Cool I did it...I made the switch! DSL it is.

I finally grew tired of AT&T cable. They kept stealing my bandwidth ( I'm limited to 250 K/sec or so down and 30 K/sec up ). I couldn't ftp to my webspace...I can't run a server because they turned off HTTP get's and after spending 2 hours with tech support yesterday trying to get someone to check the ftp server....I gave in and decided to get DSL.

Now I am getting Directv DSL, static IP, web server approved ( YEA!!! ) and it even cost less!

Screw cable! Sattellite TV is in also.

Sooooo...looks like I'll be back in the internet server business again, WOOHOOOOOOO!!!! WAAAASSSIIIBBBIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!! HOOOOOTTT!!!!!

Yea...that thought DID cross my mind.

They said two to six weeks to recieve the modem...then all I have to do is plug it in. I have a friend that did the same thing last year and he said it worked perfectly.

Whats cool is I have already recieved three e-mail status reports about what step they are in to set my modem service up to my phone line...and I just ordered it today. I never got that from the cable company...heck, I was lucky the guy might actually stop in front of the house before he radio's back no ones' home ( out of laziness, of course ).

Whoa, 30K/sec up

Who is your DSL provider? DSL in my area also has mucho superior customer service over cable (bellsouth). Charter cable in my area is awful (but has been getting better).

DirecTV service beats cable also, but I know a few people over at DirecTV service so I’m biased .

I'm with ya surreal. At least I can connect at 49-53kb most of the time.

Bellsouth told me the other day they are working on getting DSL out here. Cable just plain sucked compared to DSL on the upload side and relibility and customer service was a joke at best. I did find a way to uncap cable modems recently. And yes the uncapper works from what I have been told by the peole who use it .

Well, I'm the only one out here in this whole section (or whatever they call their customer blocks) with cable internet.. (the horses I guess didn't want it) and I'm still capped..
But it's actually cheaper than a dedicated phone line and ISP dial up.. for now.

If you want to uncap it LMK.

At least you have cable. I have to pay them to run the cable out here and I ain't doing it seeing how I rent.

It's in....working great. Seems the upload is a little slower than cable...BUT, I have a static IP.

Now....I'm waiting for the DNS to propagate. For some strange reason...some nstci.net server is routing me to the wrong address!
