MDS's System Info

Anyway you cut it I just deleted my shortcut to there as I'm tired of trying to get in. And if things can't be worked out in a week then I give up for now. It's funny how I receive email notifications of PM's but can't even get to the site. My next step is adding it to my blocked list on my email as there is no reason to receive mail from there if I can't even get on. And the super slow loading RR is next on the list of deleted shortcuts.

mickwish's System Info

Something different. This was posted by a long time member at TIMO
Quote:
The problem for me feeling like it was a ban was that if I changed my IP address, I could log on immediately. That I had to do such a few times felt like was a ban.
Now why on earth would changing your IP allow you to access the site?? Unless your WAN IP dictates what paths you get routed through. Weird.

Sorry to hear you are still having troubles, MDS. No further help from your ISP?? Would they be willing to try another IP for you, you think??

Another option is using a proxy server, although that might be somewhat slower than a usual connection.

Cheers

mickwish's System Info

I just posted this at TIMO:
Quote:
Internet routing problem to techimo.com??

There have been a few members posting at other sites they cannot access techimo.com at all, and haven't been able to for almost a week now. And a few threads started here and there on this site by members able to gain access only by proxy server.

Does this only affect techimo.com, and no other site?? Or are there other sites ppl can't seem to get through to normally?

The lack of attention that seems to have been placed on this problem by the site admins (read: lack of information posted about what they are doing) is causing some long time members who have been affected to feel abandonded.

Can an official response by this site about this problem at least be posted, please? So we can post back on other sites that something is being done??

Thanks
Mick
Mick

edit: oops - forgot to close the tag...

Thanks Mick!

First of all, I will be paying more attention to this site, since you guys are an accumulation of the britest and the best.

(Have I ruined my chances for heaven yet?)

I'm afraid that Scott probably dosent have a lot of control over what is happening. All he can do is scream and maybe take his business elsewhere....

My system runs pretty good, so I mainly argue politics anyway. We've come along way since the Win 3.1 days when my wife told me I needed to learn to "cut and paste" and I had no idea what she was talking about!

So I guess I'll keep working on my post count..!

Seems I missed the party here, sorry about that.

We moved from Pair to the Planet several weeks ago. A few days ago, probably around 9/14-9/16, ResellerRatings was undergoing some server maintainance. But there should be no problems accessing any of our sites now.

If you're still having trouble, please PM me here (or use this form if you're able to get into techimo through a proxy etc, http://www.techimo.com/timo_contact.pl) with the IP address that you're using as well as, if possible, results from pings and traceroutes from your PC. If this is a problem with our servers, our host, our firewall, etc, this info will help us figure that out. Thanks!

I haven't had any problems at all getting to it. I have just had a problem with the images loading. I have had the image problem since the 13th or 14th. I posted something about it way back then...still nothing...very odd, IMO.

mickwish, what is the link to the post you made? I don't feel like searching for it. :p

Add me to the list of members having difficulty.

I was on earlier from my desktop, but the laptop will not connect. Ping attempts to techimo.com and 69.93.248.139 time out.

How about a traceroute, Fingers?

And, to add to MDS's paranoia :p can you ping worldnet.att.net at all??

Thanks
Mick

edit: belay that last one. I can get into TIMO perfectly, and I just tried pinging worldnet.att.net and it timed out. Probably have ICMP turned off on that server.

Wow, some REALLY slow pings today!!
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\Laptop.WISH>ping www.techimo.com

Pinging www.techimo.com [69.93.248.139] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 69.93.248.139: bytes=32 time=1272ms TTL=47

Ping statistics for 69.93.248.139:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 2, Lost = 2 (50% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

I can get to that site fine, but then I can get to RR and TIMO, too.

One interesting observation: pings are bad.
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\Laptop.WISH>ping www.photopost.com -w 2000

Pinging www.photopost.com [69.93.248.138] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 69.93.248.138: bytes=32 time=2073ms TTL=47
Reply from 69.93.248.138: bytes=32 time=1482ms TTL=47
Reply from 69.93.248.138: bytes=32 time=1422ms TTL=47
Reply from 69.93.248.138: bytes=32 time=1372ms TTL=47

Ping statistics for 69.93.248.138:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 1372ms, Maximum =  2073ms, Average =  1587ms
Even though I'm Down Here, pings are normally not THAT bad!

I get total packet loss at

car4-1-v1.dllstx2.theplanet.com (12.96.160.0)

Scott W posted this today at TIMO, after anopther member posted on someone's behalf....
Quote:
I could use some help troubleshooting this problem. Our host so far has not been of any use.

Those of you that are having problems, could you answer these questions:

1) Can you bring up techimo.com in your browser? If so, do images load?

2) Can you bring up resellerratings.com in your browser? If so, do images load?

3) Can you bring up photopost.com in your browser? If so, do images load?

4) If you can't reach one or more of the sites above, and/or images don't load for you, please try to ping the following servers from your local PC and report the results (Start -> Run -> command [enter] -> ping techimo.com [enter]):

photopost.com
techimo.com
resellerratings.com
images.resellerratings.com
images.techimo.com

Finally, please provide your IP address and if possible, a traceroute from your PC to techimo.com. Traceroutes may fail at one of theplanet.com routers, which is normal, but the traceroute up until that point would be helpful.

Feel free to use the contact form, or PM me, to send this info. Thanks!
You can PM him here as ScottW as well.

Cheers
Mick

edit: added TIMO linky... not that those who most need it would be able to read it.

MDS's System Info

cisco switches, image is from theplanet hosting

Through ThePlanet, we have the following Carrier Backbone connectivity:
1 Gbps Direct Fiber - MCI/UUNET
1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Time Warner
1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Level 3
1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Verio
1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Global Crossing
2 Gbps Direct Fiber - Allegiance Telecom
2 Gbps Direct Fiber - AboveNet
1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Sprint
1 Gbps Direct Fiber - AT&T
1 Gbps Direct Fiber - Broadwing

Host servers host1 through host8, and host27 and up are located at ThePlanet's Dallas, Texas data-center facility. From there, our switches connect to ThePlanet's core network via multiple 100Mbps Fast Ethernet links (using HSRP), again for load balancing and redundancy.

Our network architecture utilizes the Enterprise routing and switching engines from Juniper and Cisco. We utilize Juniper M20 routers as border routers, Cisco 6500 series switches in our distribution layer and Cisco 6500 switches in our aggregation layers, and Cisco 3500 and 2900 series switches at the customer layer. Our network is fully meshed and redundant with 10 backbone providers. Our current network consists of UUNet (GigE), Sprint (GigE), Level 3 (GigE), Global Crossing (GigE), Verio (GigE), AT&T (GigE), Time Warner (GigE), Allegiance Telecom (2 x GigE), Broadwing (GigE) and AboveNet (2 x GigE).

DNS for Comcast is down too.. I had to route my work through the Richland College DNS. I think Dallas has some problems here.

I don't think TechIMo is the only site affected./

w00t! w00t! I can see the images again. Can anyone else see them or get to the sites that you couldn't before?

Just curioius...what might have been the problem or what was done to fix it?

Also, I'm on the NC RR network.
