I, personally, would recommend the Samsung 2053BW 20" Widescreen Monitor - basically because I have a Samsung SyncMaster 940BW 19" Widescreen, and for US$40 difference from the 19" wide - I think it is better value. Of course if you have the ready stuff in hand - GO THE 22" WIDE!!!

One thing I know is that with a 22" - you can work with two Word documents SIDE by SIDE which can be awfully useful in some areas of working/studying/researching or just copying emails.

Don't get me wrong though - there is nothing wrong with an LG screen IMHO

HTH

P.S. - I don't know what screen size your video card could handle though

Normally I'd go for one of the LG's with the 10,000:1 contrast ratio (just remember not to be using nightvision in one of the games if some admin or mod goes to turn up the lights via game management software, have done that a few times myself to a few clanmates by accident LOL )

But looking at the pricing if thats a major concern for you (not sure if these are all that were on sale, or all that are with in your budget)

I'd say it'd be the same one goatieau said, its only $40 more than the 19", otherwise your looking at spending nearly $100 more on a screen 2" wider in diagonal...

if they're all with in your budget, then I'd go for the 22" Samsung, for the $40's less in price, the Contrast Ratio is still quite high, & as with all the LCD's the viewing angles are all roughly 170 & 170 or 160 (Horizontal & vertical in degrees).

otherwise if you don't plan on upgrading the video card anytime soon, going with one of the 19" displays doing 1440x900 will be much easier on the video card, when running games maxed or near maxed settings.

what was the specs on the rest of the system? wondering to see how well BF2 would/should do. that card shouldn't have much trouble running BF2 at High/Medium to high settings at 1280x1024, but for 1440x900 or 1680x1050 its hard to say.

So it comes down to...

Pricing/Value/Features: Samsung 2053BW 20"

If All of the choices are with in Budget, & for max performance/value/features: Samsung 2253BW 22"

For better/easier workload on video card: Samsung 953BW 19" Widescreen

But goats right about the one 22" many of them you can easily open 2 documents side by side in word processing apps etc... and if your working on say something like a image with in Photoshop CS3 or GIMP with the different Docks for tools etc, you can easily place the image on the screen & most if not all neccessary docks off to one side with out having to swap from one windowed item to another all the time, something that annoys the hell out of me using GIMP, I like to play with my images full size or enlarged many times when editing them, to have to swap back & forth between an image & whatever irks me off sometimes... (one of the reasons I'm wanting to get a nice 24" widescreen sometime before end of year, probably will end up financing through Dell or something)

For your video card & resolutions it supports, read below in bottom of this link: http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonx800/specs.html

I like the fact that for $40 more you get a slightly bigger LCD - but you also bump up in resolution. I have an LG 19" and its relaly nice - my only con for it, is it takes longer than my other two LCDs to come out of sleep mode. My Sony and Gateway are within a second or two of wiggling the mouse but the LG takes two or three seconds.
If you have the few extra bucks, I would certainly go with the Samsung 2253BW. 22" is amazingly larger looking than teh 19". I myself just ordered a 24" from newegg!

Well I'll suffer for a while longer. I took the kids clothes shopping today and well, that money didn't go very far. I didn't know their summer stuff from last year was so small, darn kids need to STOP growing dam it hehe.
at least it has not started to smell yet. I might have to dig out that old 450 with 14 incher at moms and start using that.

Thanks for all you help fellows
