Check with the local electronic's repair places...such as the ones that do TV and VCR repairs. Most of them have the equipment and testing gear to be able to replace the damaged parts usually...Just sometimes you have to get on their good side or the cost of the repairs could be more than what it costs to just buy a new one outright

Well...basically if you want to get the video card fixed I would suggest what Mntsnow mentioned. Ask a local Radio Shack or other electronics stores if they'd be able to replace and/or fix the card (likely charge you for this tho).

You said this video card was too close to the other cards? You mean it was seated next to another PCI card? That wouldn't normally cause the card to overheat.

When you added the second harddrive, did you make all the necessary adjustments to the jumper settings, mobo settings, settings in the BIOS, and did you plug in the IDE cables properly?

What is the exact model of your motherboard?

Maybe you might have accidentally reset one of the jumpers, DIP switches, BIOS settings, or something to increase the voltage, FSB speed, etc.

Where did u purchase this video card? Maybe you could return it to the store and see if they can cover a replacement, refund, etc.

basically it was a act of god or a freak accident. i do not know. basically the motherboard is has no jumper. thats not a problem. and i know i handled the card with care. not touching it because you know our little static electricity we have on our little hands. ill check with radioshack. thanks. the place i bought it at was eletronic boutique and they dont accept without receipt. which i lost. thanks everybody

Chances are that the HP didn't have a big enough power supply to run the extra drive + a hot video card. Those things suck some juice. My experience with mass produced PC's is that they put in a power supply just big enough to run what is originally installed on the PC & not much more.

When I started adding stuff to my old Dell, the PSU started making noise & creating all kinds of AM radio interference. Turned out that the PSU was only 175 watts. I had a Gateway at the office with the same situation. Both got bigger PSUs right away.

well that was not the power i would think. because the vid card had been running fine for almost a month. like a said it was an act of GOD.

Didn't you add another componant? HDD? Did I miss something?

Hey, the card coulda been defective too. I've RMA'd brand new ones before.

Did you ever register with PNY when you bought the card?
