i installed iis-php-mysql and everything was running fine.
i did a reboot and now i can't even get localhost to load. i get a 404 error.
does anybody know what happen and how to correct this problem?
i can't get into internet service manager. it won't open.
pws won't open either.
event viewer has
type--error
source--service control manager
category--none
event--7022
user--n/a
in the services all of the services are started.

Well, if you are getting a 404, the server is working. It is responding that it cannot find the document you are requesting. Look in webserver logs to see what file is being reqested. On XP/2000 it is c:\winnt\sytem32\logfiles\w3svc1.log
Or something close.
Is this IIS or PWS?

You are running IIS and PWS? That could be a problem.

found the problem.
it was zonealarm. i put zonealarm so that it doesn't startup on startup and i started zonealarm after the system rebooted and everything is working again.
thanks for the help.:)

Interesting. I would consider finding how to make zonealarm work right at boot. Turning it off could leave things open if you reboot and walk away.
