So, where in lies the difference, other than the Thorton is a crippled Barton core?

If the cost is very similar, why choose Thorton over Tbred, unless you plan to mod the L2 cache?

Until benchmarks come out to prove Thorton is better, go with whatever is cheapest. IMO.

CC, afaik they are the same price. NE lists Thorton as $75 oem
and Tbed as $81 retail. Take away the hsf and they priced pretty much the same.

The Thorton may not be as overclockable? I'm curious if anyone knows yet?

I don't know of they OC as well but I would get one to enable the L2 cache.
