As for some background to this problem let me start off - I have two hardrives which I built the same - but with a small difference. Both now have troubles.

First I used Partition magic to divide up the drives - C: was a 200meg Fat16 - big enough to boot the drive.
D: was a variable over 2 gig and Fat 32 - for win 98,
E: was a variable as well - over 2 gigs for w2k; on one drive it was Fat32 - the second NTFS.

Partition Magic - now does not allow me to run a floppy boot disk and during the bootup process says something like " no home drive - enter number of home drive - " when you do - it reboots and goes through the same stuff looping away. Does the same on both drives.

Since I cannot get back into the drive with PMic - I have a problem converting back to FAT32 -

So at this juncture - I believe the only solution is to pick up Drive Image 7.0 and image the drives - then Fdisk them - format them again - and image explore/restore the drives back to some semblence of heath?
Up here DI7.0 is $100 so I would appreciate your thoughts before I pick it up and go thrught that hassle.

From what I know once your Partition has been converted to NTFS, you can't convert it back to FAT32/16. I will check up on this matter though because "supposedly" there are 3rd-Party apps which can accomplish this. If there truly is such an app, I want to make sure it actually worx b4 I refer anyone to it.

Thanks Jadison - when I worked with PMic - it was because you could move between NTFS and Fat32

I built the drives in this way to keep prying eyes out - NTFS was for me experimental - and I needed to see how it worked - The error about Partition Magic home drive not found has thrown me - I trusted it to do most anything I ever needed -

I can rescue with the cdrw sand then back stuff onto the harddrive -

I asked the questions becuase I can see how this could get to be a major pain on a customers box. And since I see no solution yet other than brute force - ?? I'd rather finesse a solution. So I ask and keep looking!

I'd be very interested in that solution too.
Got a 80GB done with PM4 with 3 hidden primaries fat16/32 and 5 logicals fat32
Try to add it now to a new Box with 80GB done by ??? with 1 primary NTFS and 2 logicals fat32

Better to know what mishaps may be around, before I start to mess it up:D
