Clear/reset the cmos jumper and try again.
Which mainboard/processor/memory are you using?...;)

You're more of an expert on these types of issues than I am, MrC, but I was just wondering if a bios flash would resolve this?

Believe the 925 board has both sdram and ddr slots.
It has to be jumpered to the correct memory type.
You have the long bank of jumpers and the single jumper between the memory slots-

I would start there...:)

Yes the jp1 between the memory is set 2.5 v ddr ram and the long bank of pins are all open for DDR Memory.

Couple of things about the 925 board-
The jumper between the dimm slots maybe marked wrong.
Reverse it and see if it will post.
Mainboard and heatsink support are not as strong as they should be.
Bet the board looks bent/curved, in the processor socket area. This can cause The memory sticks not to seat correctly. Pull the board and set it up on a phone book or similar. Pull and reseat the memory. Hook up power supply, keyboard, mouse and monitor cable. Touch the power switch pins with a screwdriver tip. See what it does.

LTC - Your problem is different and not related to this one. Most common on that error message is processor overheating.
1. Check processor fan. If it is an oem processor, pull the heatsink and reapply thermal paste. The old stuff has probably dried up.
2. Bad memory will cause this also. Try a different stick.
3. Mainboard processor voltage set too low.
4. Bad processor.

Back to the 925 board. I was never happy with this one. Feel like it was a poor attempt at an All-In-One P4 board. Still have the 2 ,I bought to test. This board has since been dropped from production...:p

Trying to load windows me, after returning after first boot process it just powers down, when you fire it back up it goes into safe mode, if you do the step by step mode it flashed the safe to shut down computer screen and shuts down right after msmouse.vxd if you load it or not.

Hooked up a new mouse, formatted drive and tried loading windows and it worked like a charm.

I also get the same error. I just got a new cpu, installed it and reset cmos. Now it wont boot and gives the error “CMOS/GPNV Checksum bad” I have tried installing my old working cpu and it makes no difference. I think something happened when I reset cmos. I want to flash bios but can’t get my comp to boot off anything. Is there anything I can do for this? I don’t want to have to buy a new board. ;~/

Here is a little info on my machine

Daely. The 925 board will take a variety of 478 processors and memory. If your version has 4 memory slots, 2 are ddr and 2 are ddr2. Make sure the jumper, next to the memory slots is set for the type of memory you are using. Check your cmos jumper. These boards were shipped with it in the :clear: position. Change it if so. You mentioned a browning cap? If you have bad caps, you need to change them...;)

evildooinz. Pull the board and setit up on a cardboard box as a simple system. Board may have grounded when you changed processors. Check the cmos jumper. Sometimes the brass contact set will come out of the plastic cap...;)

I my extra slots are Dimm ram slots no the cmos jumper is in the correct spot, would they stop it from sending a signal to the moniter? oh and heres a pic of oone of the motherboards i have http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/7290/dscf1149jd0.jpg

That Amptron board is a rebranded PC Chips.
That row of jumpers next to the ide connector, changes voltages for the memory.
That board will never post with all the blown caps. Change them first...;)

“CMOS/GPNV Checksum bad”

Sometimes it's as simple as going into the BIOS and setting the date and time manually.
