HELP !!!

I am running Windows server 2000 and installed the BulletProof
FTP server, but when I try to access my ftp site it displays the
message

"Windows caanot access this folder make sure you type
the file name correctly and that you have permission to access
the folder".

"Details - The server or address could not be resolved".

Could you please tell me what does these 2 error messages
mean and can I resolve this problem. It FTP server was working
fine couple of months back but recently I ran it and start getting
this error message.

P.S. PLEASE HEEEEEEEEELP !

Thank you

#1 You need to grant the proper file permissions to the folders & files you plan on sharing via the ftp server

#2 That means you do not have DNS configured if your trying to use name resolution or you do not have the IP address and or ports configured properly for the server side of things to allow a connection to occure

Brother Mntsnow

Answer to your first point, I have given the folder & files permissions that are sharing via ftp server.

Now answer to the second point, I have configured DNS to try to
use name resolution also configured IP address and ports. But I might have done something wrong somewhere, could you please
walk me through this configuartion.

Thank you

I am having the same problem as devdas. I am also running Windows 2000 on my box running bulletproof FTP server. Everytime I try to connect, I also get "Windows can not access this folder make sure you type the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder." It worked fine for the longest time, and then suddenly stopped working and giving me that error message. I have upgraded to version 2.21 with the same result.

I would be happy to work with you gents on getting your ftp's up and running...If you both could "pm" me the IP address(s) and the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) that you have assigned to your FTP server, AND create me a test account for bulletproof so I can see what errors accure when I try and connect to the server so I can determine if it's External or Internal misconfiguration (make user and password whatever you want as you will delete the accounts once we figure out whats up)

sounds to me like maybe the home directory for the accounts is screwy. Did you recently make changes to the user accounts? Did you recently add or remove a harddrive? Are you using Group accoutns or just user accounts?

Actually, I thought my bFTP server program got corrupted somehow, so I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it. Still, no luck. I even went as far as to wipe my hard drive and rebuild it from scratch. Still, no luck. I've tried connecting when I had group accounts created and I couldn't connect. I tried when I had user accounts only and couldn't connect then either. It's so weird....the program worked fine for almost a year and then just suddenly stopped working. I can connect from my LAN, but I can't gain access from outside it.

Well, my problem turned out to be my Linksys router. For some reason, it would not allow port forwarding, even though I had it programmed to. I tried resetting it several times and even powering it on and off and reprogramming it with the same result. I had the same exact problem with a previous Linksys router. I bought a Netgear router, hooked it up and I was serving in no time!! I just configured port forwarding on it and that was it. I didn't even change any settings in BFTP server. :)
