I wasnt feelin' too well three days ago, so I layed down on my bed. I slept a good 4 hours. When I woke up .. My monitor...was...black -n- white... Words that were draped across my screen were 'Primary Hard Drive Failed'.....I rebooted...and after a long stall...I got the same thing. So I just shut it down. The followin' evenin' I went and turned my pc on....Windows loaded fine....and then yesterday..while I was online...it locked up on me...When I restarted it...same thing, 'primary hard drive failed'.....
WTF? Anyone? I am thinkin' my IDE cable might be bad. Yall got any ideas?

Howdy....Nice to see you again.
Those errors are normally seen when a HD is on it's way out. I have seen it with bad cables but normally on hd's that are pending total failure. I would highly suggest getting any and all important data backed up to another HD or burned off to cd before the drive becomes totally dead and check to see if the drive is RMA"able

Thanks Mntsnow..I have all my data on my secondary hd, as well as burned a backup on a disk. I just hope that it dont happen again. I love buildin' em..but not repeatively buildin' the same pc over and over.
thanks again :D
Before you decide to trash the HDD, I would recommend testing the HDD on a different a system just to be sure the motherboard IDE channel or IDE cable isn't the cause of the problem....

"I love buildin' em..but not repeatively buildin' the same pc over and over. "
This is just a suggestion, I have a mobile rack in each system and when I get a sys. up and running the way I like with all my basic installs and downloads I put a spare drive in the rack and make a ghost of the whole sys. after that if it goes gunny sack I can put the ghost back on in 10 Min.
