View Full Version : Zupdate.exe ??? WTH?

I found it in the registry run key...search revealed it along with a cab file. No company description in properties...seemed weird...had an update /silence switch.

I removed it from the key and deleted the file and it's cab file.

Is it spyware?

If I'm not mistaken, that's the MS Game Zone update file.... I also have that, As soon as I installed The Game Zone, I've been getting that port request... My other systems that don't have MS Game Zone don't have requests for that file trying to connect to the Internet...

Besides, I have never seen an MS file without MS in the file properties.

This one is not made by MS.

It's in the BDE directory..."BrilliantDigital" is the company name.

That's the program that installs as a plug-in for file sharing programs such as Morpheus, isn't it? That must be for the b3d projector which plays ads at the bottom portion of Morpheus...

Hmmmmm...

Sounds plausible. I did install Morpheus ( did not get very good results with it actually working though ).

Yeah, I couldn't get Morpheus PE, the newest edition to work on XP either. I just started using KaZaa again. Kazaa also installs the b3d projector crap... And yes, I know KaZaa has spyware but I could care less about that... ;)

I just got this app trying to access the internet. My firewall detected it. I just reread this post and remembered my visiting father was playing online with MSN gaming today.

Looks like mntsnow found the truth behind this...it's the kazaa spyware...err...trojan...err...distributed world domination tool.
