A few questions:

"Stack", meaning on top of eachother or beside eachother?

When you say computers, what kind? Desktops, Towers?

If you were to stack say, 2 or more desktops one on top of the other that should be fine (the only issues I'm thinking here are heat and mass of cords and wiring being a safety issue). As long as all of the equipment is connected properly, there shouldn't be any problems.

To stack Towers, that should also be fine...I "stack" mine just side-by-side.

How old are these computers, what are there specs, and how do you plan to configure them? (Just to save space, or are they also going to be networked?) ------->This is just for curiosity's sake. :)

I would say yes you would be fine as long as your not blocking air flow and that the weight on the bottom computer is not to great (dont want it caving in on itself!)

As long as air flow and cable management is addressed you should be fine :)

The best solution would be to mount the computers in 19" industrial cases ,that way airflow will not be a problem
beacause most of these cases have their fans at the front
so you dont have to worry about alot of hot air behind the computers

you could always go with the rack that i posted earlier...but that's a lil overkill :)

You might wanna put a fan back there to circulate the air.
I've seen several walls that had been damaged due to heat

Mntsnow: " cable management " hehehe whats that? I got cat5 running from the hub, though the living room/my bedroom { it's where I'm sleeping for now } into the kitchen and on into the kids room. { it's bright yellow so ya don't trip over it } I got another cat5 from the hub running though the living room/my bedroom into the kitchen to the lap top's docking station, I got two cat 5's running from the router in to the to a couple machine at the foot of my bed. and I got the wireing for two more in Errr whats suppose to,be my bedroom, for two more boxes and the router, the hub,a lan printer, my personal printer, scanner, desk lamp, fish tank and the power supplys for the scanner, printers, hub and router and of course the ADSL modem and it's power supply. and in this room is the only window big enough for a A/C unit, wich I put in around may.

My cables are a mess too

you should have a look behind my desk

I doubt heat would be an issue. Assuming that your cases are fairly large and you don't have a huge buildup of heat behind the cases, you should be fine. If so, consider it some incentive for some sort of out of this world cooling project! ;)

So its not just me. I thought I was the only one with wiring going everywhere. I have a 50' cat5 run thru the wall to part of the herd that is sitting in there temporary home. Had to build a room to house my babies outside of the studio. Its to damn hot in there with the computers, monitors and the family.

Keep the family out. Yea right. They live out here, literaly.
The boys friends think this room is the coolest thing they have ever seen. They all sit around and play games on the lan with each other all of the time. The new room is just for me and my Frankenstein creations. Maybe one day I can start making some money at this
