View Full Version : Email Problems Hit Top Australian ISPs

Up to two million Australian internet users have been affected by email problems suffered by the country's three largest ISPs this week.

The problems suffered by BigPond, OptusNet and OzEmail were all attributed to different causes, however, which ranged from DOS attacks to spam overloads and software bugs.
BigPond, the largest ISP, has probably had the longest-running email problems. From last week there were intermittant problems for both dial-up and broadband customers with certain user names, such as those beginning with M or H, were affected by a mail server software upgrade which went wrong, causing a delay in mail delivery and intermittant time-outs from the mail server.
