When i just started i letted it run and couldn't care much, later i checked multiple times a day how far it was.
Now i have also reconsidered letting my comp run at night, but that's a bad idea because it's annoying... however now i'm thinking about putting it on my moms and her bf's pc...

Only problem is that my oldest brother doesn't like such stuff running so he would likely remove it when he see's it (yes without permission of either of them... he just does these things...)

Anyway i will still check it, if he removes it then i will just install it again etc. :D

So with abit of luck i will be doing 3 times as much as i do now, the 2 computers are a 1,6 gig Athlon XP and a 1 gig Duron.

Think can run in hidden mode, (I didn't know that until recently ), ie not visible in a window! It's possible someone wouldn't realise it was there unless they went looking!

FAD will run in hidden mode but the default installation still leaves the FAD icon visible on the system tray. there is a way to disable it but i don't know the exact details.

hopefully mondobyte, mickwish or one of the others can tell you...

Hey Gohan, are ya' referring to Barney? Or is there another brother?

If it's Barney, explain to him what it's all about and who some of the members of the team are. He would probably be more open to it and may join the team just to do ya' in! :p (Then again, I can see the 2 of ya' switching the names in yer' mom's and her bf's computers for the completed jobs! :bunny: )

No it's not Barney.

And my brother is the kind of person who checks what is all running on the computer, now it's not like he is checking it all the time, but when he uses that computer it's only because there is a complaint about the computer not running right. And Think doesn't get unnoticed there since it's most of the time at 90+

Its the tray.exe program for the tray icon. Have a look in think.lgo and remove the line referencing it.
I don't have a clue how you would stop it appearing in task manager, so you'll probably get busted there anyway.
just delete it out the start menu and reboot the computer when he's done with it. That way he'll never see it, other than when its hogging CPU time.

For all you do to hide Think running.

You'll not get past the steady 'blink blink' of the Hard Drive LED.
Indicating a box doing something.

Better to try a good sales pitch on people.
Rather than secretly 'borg' their m/cs.

Lets face it. FaD is a good product.
It shouldn't be hard to sell.

Oh btw Gohan: 24/7 is how we oldtimers / high stats makers, get our numbers.

What we lack in horsepower, we make up for, in power bills.

[Speaking for myself of course, although others will concur. Eh Mick?]

Yep. My power bill definitely concurs.

I got to seriously consider trading the quad PPro in on a dual Athlon MP or something . That redundant 450W PSU chews the power as well as the mollies. :p

Power, power everywhere,
Fad is making me broke, I swear!
For every Mollie and Hit I crunch,
I can feel the money, and feel the pinch!

Heck, I probably double my house's power usage! But hey... All in a good cause!

Just waiting for my dad to come down, red in the face

Although I don't recommend surrepticiously running THINK, it can be started and stopped without the icon. It can be started and stopped from the Scheduler built into NT, W2K, WXP, W2003 ... dunno if 95/98/ME have one or not. Probably do.

PM me and I'll gladly share.

Gohan, found the soloution to your noise problem.

http://www.antec-inc.com/pro_details_enclosure.php?ProdID=15138

Just put my wifes with a new board in one (holds a NF7 no probs, 5 Hd's, 2 Floppies and 3 CDroms if you want)

it is QUIET, I can't hear it at all over my other PC's (even when I'm 1' from it)

Uses 1 120mm fan at the back that the PSU will control the speed of, the loudest thing in there is the Vantec Aeroflow heatsink fan... The Hd's even have rubber grommets to keep the vibrations down...

By far the best case I've used, not the roomiest, but the best. (my new favorite) :D

Trust me i can still hear it then, did you ever knew that on the somewhat older TV's that when you turn of the sound that you can still hear it? Well i can, even from like 5 meters away, and not that i just hear something, no i can actually here what they are saying.

I also remember this, i often forgot to turn of my amplifier, when i was in bed i could actually here it, i could hear that it was still on.

I got a odd hearing i tell you. ;)

If you like that case, you'll love the Antec SLK3700AMB. Beautiful finish, roomier ( but still not a huge thing ), and has a 120mm fan in it with a mount spot for another. I run a few of these. Currently on sale at newegg for $73 shipped!! Includes the SL350 watt PSU, 1 fan, rubber HD mounting grommets and awesome paint job.

Looks like they kicked it up $2; still an awesome deal.

Hehehe, can't order form NewEgg (wrong country :D) but I can get that one, but prefer the 380watt PS on the sonata...
