(Sorry XPC guru's, I posted it before I found this site) :(
I hope redirecting here os ok.

There will be at least 2 weeks before the winners are chosen.

FOR: A multiple program Logo, banner and a business card.
Winners will design all 3 to be eligible.
Use:
Design is for a set of database programs for an Army aircraft tracking database.
The primary programs name is "FOCUS" (Flight Operations Command Utilization System). This program will be made up of stand-alone modules.

We need a design for the FOCUS program and a design for the modules. These will then be combined to form 1 logo to be placed onto a business card, letterheads, websites, etc..

There will be three modules to start, with a total of 7 modules being added later. The module names are Ops, Standz, Web, CDR, ARMS, Admin, and PDA. The names dont necessarily have to be stated, it should at least imply a program made out of multiple units.

Our idea is that on a flash for the program (later project), It will show the program logo "FOCUS", with the module logos spinning around it. No flash is needed now.

Dont hold back though, cause even though that's our current idea, we are open to all suggestons and other ideas as well!:D

Our intent is to start out with the main logo and 3 modules spinning around it. Then as we add each module over time, we can just add 1 module to the logo. Make sense?

Banner, I could care less as long as it looks good. Freeplay here.
By banner I mean something to go across the top of a webpage that incorporates a logo and a design of some sort.

Business card will state name"Mr. Ronald McDonald", "1(800)555-1212", and email address. use "Email.Address.Here@Address.Here"

Impression intended to be passed is that the program is an extremely advanced database.

If this sounds familiar: I have done a similar contest, but had to use the winning design for other another purpose due to copyright probems with the other name.

My brain has been overcooked lately, so please let me know if I've confused anyone, which I tend to do, or any more info is needed.

So someone is getting a custom designed logo, a custom designed banner and a custom designed business card for 250 bucks? That's a pretty good deal.

I would suggest you give 2nd place nothing and $350 plus credit given to the artist for the winner. That would be more like real life wouldn't it? Usually when bidding for a job only one company takes the contract. ;)

Anyways, good luck with your contest.

Argh, I knew I'd forgotten something. Credit will be given on the programs and the website.
Wish I could afford more for first, but trying to get more people involve with a prize for 2nd. Also, I'm not looking for a flash banner, just the graphics that are along the top of a webpage.
I've seen all 3 go for $50 each and turn out some real good work, so I figured $250 should be good.

I understand the logic, but it works both ways. For example, I'm not currently involved, but for a possble $350 bucks I'd certainly be more interested.

Plus I've always been of the mindset, 2nd palce may as well be last place, they both lost. Only 1st place is the winner. Maybe harsh...but isn't that how life is?

Anyways, this is just my 2 cents (that you didn't even ask for). Run your contest how you see fit. Have fun. Good luck. ;)

All 3 for 50 bucks!? Where'd you see that? That company must not be in business anymore.

For most the people entering the contest I'm sure $250 is great. Don't worry about it. I hope you get something you guys are happy with.

No problem Outpatient, I appreciate the input.

I was trying to figure out how much to put up for the contest before I started it. The $50 each I mentioned were previous designs that were done on Techimo, I figured the ones I saw for 50 turned out pretty good, then added a bit more to compensate for having to do 3 at once.

Still trying to figure out a good pricing range for these things.

I'll be sure to up it on the next project to get you involved, as I've heard you do some pretty good work. :)
