hi gus,
i run a website for my local church - and the isp that has it will only let me upload material to if i dial in using there dial up number - and as some of you may know im getting adsl....
so i thot hmmmm i could host it my self, what would i need to do to my system to make this work, i only have one line so what im thinking it getting an adsl line installed in my local church and leave the pc connected permantly! obviously id have to build a new pc, would it work if i just stuck xp pro on it and any other software i needed... please let me know, im guesing ill have to tell the isp im gonna host it my self and be billed for the privalge to do so....

p.s its an actual domain name i bought www.westchurch.co.uk

I would suggest using www.ipaska.com or www.made2own.com
Ipaska seems to be a little bit more reliable. It is very cheap and you don't have to bother with setting up a server.

For a single site or only a couple it would be cheaper to use a commerical host...UNLESS you are wanting to learn server administration first hand... If you want to learn more about it the check out www.dslwebserver.com
