Anyone know how to make a few more hours in the day?

I am currently doing 12 hour nights 6 til 6 helping out on a few projects at work. It takes me half an hour to and from work, these stats take me an hour, so that leaves me 10 hours, I sleep for 6, which leaves me just 4 hours to spend time with the family, eat, drink, get ready for work etc etc etc. - NIGHTMARE!!!!

TT's been nagging at me to do an update on the FaD boards for our fortnightly progress, and I just havn't had the time. But I will get round to it.

Anyway...

No new members.

Congratulations to CCristo who takes 1st place, and comiserations to WoZ who drops down to 2nd.

Milestones:
--------------
CCristo - 1st Place & 45 million molecules
cwizard - 4 million molecules
Manda - 3.5 million molecules & 200 thousand points
CHITA - 2 million molecules
MDS_XPC - 100 thousand points
ROBIN801 - 1 mollion molecules
akinsey - 20 thousand points

Well done, CCristo, good work. :)

Looks like Plums about to blast past Geobot tommorrow! How did he get way up there so fast? :p

Good work to Manda & SJ too, but they are gonna have to ramp it up if they wanna pass Cwiz any time soon. :D

So is TT if he wants to pass me.

Keep crunching everyone.

I just wanted to add my appreciation for the stats, I love checking them out every day and use them over statsman and the official stats to chart my progress, so keep up the good work as it is very much appreciated by us all :)

Is anyone else having issues with their queues?? I normally just have Cancer selected, but even with everything selected, all I get to download are the 1EUP's... my queues are full of the damned things...
It happens on all 3 of my headed machines. Doing my head in right now!!

Well, I am setting up a couple of new crunchers, after losing my P4 2gig on saturday.
A P4 1.6, and an Ipaq 933....
The Ipaq is being rebuilt, the P4 was still fully built from previous use - Complete with Fad... and a 98% complete 1f45 - oh the joys of those!!

Hey ho!

Krunch on people!!

Automatic Stats eh?

I have looked into the idea of somehow feeding a php page from FaD stats, and having a progy that will format it, coalate it and output it into the way we like it. I havn't found an easy way yet.

What I need I think is someone with extensive excel experience who can guide me through a way of making it easier.

At the moment, I download the figures from FaD, then open up my excel document, manually move the places for members that have moved up/down the stats. I have two sections for jobs, hits, molecules, points and time - yesterdays and todays. I copy the information from today into yesterdays section, then enter the new information in todays section. I have several sections of calculations that deduct one from the other to give new jobs, hits etc.

In addition to this, I have a section for monday's points, tuesday points and so on. This section gives me an average uploaded points figure that I can then manually asign the arrows too to indicate a higher or lower average.

I then asign arrows indicating if someone has moved up or down in the stats.

Finally, I save the document as a PRN file (space separated format), open this in notepad, edit out the other info and code from the worksheet, than copy and paste into the forum.

Whew.

I could do this in about half an hour start to finish, I normally pause half way, have a coffee, couple of fags etc. which is why it takes over an hour. :)

What would be nice, is if I could copy and paste the info directly from the FaD site directly into excel and then have excel create a report (preferably in PRN format) that I can then copy into the forum.

Any ideas anyone.

If you would like to see the worksheet I use and have a play with it, you can download it from

Here (http://freespace.virgin.net/m.agar/XPCStatsPoints.xls) (64k) Note. If your browser doesn't support excel plugins, right click the link and click 'Save Traget as...'

Thanks in advance...

Don't get me wrong though, I DO enjoy doing these updates everyday, I knew the commitment I was getting myself into when I started doing them and believe me, if I didn't think I would be able to sustain doing them everyday, I would not have started them. Anyway, it's nice being able to see how the team is doing before anyone else ;)

Yeah, well I shot my load today (as the Bishop said to the Actress), and I don't think it's gonna quite be enough (the Actress replied). Joke was my 15-m long sneaker had the wrong kind of laces, so I had to lug the machines upstairs to do it. The efforts I make to keep that idiot quiet, for the benefit of all.

You must leave the desktop - and the rest of the desk - behind, because if you drop it and wake wife, it will alert her to the new Celeron on top of the desktop (at least it would have been before you dropped it.) Far better to let sleeping wives lie. (Apologies to any dogs reading this.)

Another tip when sneakernetting in the middle of the night - don't trip over the cable. If you do it going upstairs, you can catch yourself a nasty one when the chin hits the edge of the step. If you do it going downstairs, you won't live to be as old as Geobot is.

Your "shot" wasn't quite enough this time, but it was close enough to make me sweat.

Keep it up and you'll pass me eventually, TT! :D

BTW TT, if your long cat5 cable is the wrong type (striaght through instead of crossover, or vice versa) you can easily rewire the end if you can get hold of a crimper and a cat5 connector. I have a wiring diagram somewhere that would help ya if you want to try, Just PM me. :) Or you could take the whole cable into a computer repair shop and they might be able to do it for you there. Or sell you a whole new one.

I knew Plum would pass Geobot - the Top 10 is within his sights!! :D

You know ... I've seen lots of folks progress along the curve asymptotic to the X-axis ... plum ugly is the first one to go around the bend and chart his progress asymptotic to the Y-axis!

I only wonder whether or not he will pass the whole passel of us at the top with just a single day's processing of his herd! Geesh ... I wonder if he has to call down to the power plant and ask them to throw on an extra lump or two for the FaD servers when he uploads just so the lights won't dim over at FaD.

Good going, CCristo. Steadily churning 'em out at a high rate. Don't pause too long though for any time. You know WoO keeps on keeping on.

Plum, what can I say? There was a time I could keep ahead of you. Did for well over a year on our UD team(s). But I've had to get weaker, and you've gotten nothing but stronger. Alot stronger ( and I know you're not done yet ).

Everyone here on this team will be passed, I guarentee that! I'm your biggest fan. Get 'em, Ken.

Yeah, I can smell the sweat from here. Pass you eventually ? Too true, I hope, but I daresay we'll be chewing the cud for many a week. I shall start writing my "Fool Mickwish Uploading Strategy" handbook.

And if the worst comes to the worst I'll fake a letter from your electricity supply company saying the price is going up to 25 cents, and send it to your wife ! How does that grab you ?
What's her address, by the way ?

The cable was straight-through: no problems, I've allowed 30 days to change it, no questions asked. (In some places in Sweden e.g. IKEA, one gets 3 months !).

How the helll was I to know that the first cable had already done the cross-over act, and so the extension bit had to be straight-through ! Grrrr !!! It's a hard life when you've got your nose up Mickwish's bottom. Very hard.

Why not buy a autoswtich ethernet switch like the skylink ... they can be had for about $30 american ... they work with straight throughs, crossovers ... full duplex, half duplex (maybe that should be halfwit in your case) There are no buttons or controls ... just plug and wit works! Now not all switches work like this ... some only have one port that can be switched from normal to uplink (uplink is for router to router or router to hub). As I said, just plug it in and wit works!

Just a suggestion ...

But is it clear where to plug in the cable? And which end ? I mean, it may sound easier than lugging machinery about during the hours of darkness, but...............
