I recently fried my msi kt3 ultra and am now looking to buy a whole new pc for myself.
I am very interested in the MSI KT6 mobo BUT it doesnt have 4 holes for a bigger heatsink....I notice the majority of mobos I look at do not have a place for a bigger heatsink and I dont trust clips in the case of a 80mm or 92mm fan.

So far the only 2 mobos I can think of are the Asus A7N8X Deluxe and Epox 8RDA3+. $124 roughly and $110. They are a little more than I would like to be spending however - considering the KT6 is about $80.

Anyone have any suggestions on a mobo that would work with either of the above heatsinks??? A board that LOVES OVERCLOCKING (like the Asus and Epox)....I dont NEED 400FSB support since im looking to get a 333 XP2500+...
But i really would like some suggestions as I would like to make the purchase SOON......I have spent about 10hrs in the past 2 days trying to find the right mobo, and the asus and epox are it.....but if i can find something a little cheaper, about just as good for oc'ing, and able to accept a HUGE heatsink...that would be excellent

thank you!

I have a KT600 board from Soyo and it does have the four holes, although I am using the SLK 800 with an 80 mm fan using just the socket clips. (I have had no problems with that either)

It is stated on Thermalrights site that the SLK900A will fit any socket462 board, including the A7N8X.

The U version had problems with capacitors, but the A version no longer has this problem, so I'd go with the A version combined with either the Asus or the Epox.

And they both will come with 400Mhz fsb from rev 2.0, this will give you room to clock that baby up to XP3200 speeds. :)

I've heard of people having some issues with the A7N8X. Most of the same group strongly recommends the Abit NF7-S version 2.0 as a better choice. It also has the 400 FSB support and lockable AGP/PCI frequencies.

Xaotic, those issues of having to bend the capacitors is only with the 900U, the 900A does not have these problems.

Here's a link to proof it:
