hrmm ok i think thats what it's called.

it's the thing where you have options which os you want to use?
well since i used western digital's software to setup my hard drive and i didnt have have a winxp startup disk,i used a win98 start up disk, now i have an option to boot into win98 but not really, it will shows me the win98 startup screen then go to dos prompt at C:\windows.

i was wondering if there was a way to get rid of the win98/winxp option,so it just booted straight to winxp.

if not, i'll just change it so it waits zero seconds. but i was just wondering that's all..

thanks

from azkidd... thanks kidd :)
open boot.ini with your favorite text editor ( word wrap must be OFF )

you can edit to read as

[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /bootlog

the last 2 lines should actually be one line

that's IF you are booting from C:\windows
