View Full Version : New lcd monitor with dots in display
Hi...yall
So I got a new Samsung SyncMaster 171N, after setting it up I immediately noticed 2 little blue dots on the screen. One is right in the middle so my eye drifts off to it and the other is about an inch away from the bottom. They are there period, does this mean they are bad pixels? and do I take it back?
Cheers....
Biff
I would take it back. Some manufacturers/vendors consider 1 or 2 bad pixels within limits - I wouldn't.....

I wouldnt accept a led with bad pixels right from the start. are those there if you have just a plain white page up like a empty word doc? If so take it back I would say
Yes, take it back to where you got it...quick. Don't accept no for an answer :) (reverse the charge if you have to). Accept no dead pixels on a new LCD. The factory warranties usually require more than 2 pixels to swap. Some even say 3 adjacent.
Thanks for the input guys. I did take it back and he didn't hesitate in giving me a new one, and this one looks good!
Problem solved......you guys are awesome .... :)

Great! Glad it worked out.
Bad pixels are very common with LCD monitors. It's so common that it even says on the manual that having a certain amount of bad pixels is normal... Soon or later, you will get them with any LCD monitor...
