What program will view SGML files on Windows 2000?

We used Panorama but it is dead now and will not work on Windows 2000. Now, we have hundreds of process documents in SGML format byut many people cannot view them.

Xmetal supports SGML files

Can XMetaL create SGML documents?

Yes. XMetaL supports SGML authoring and allows users to open and save SGML to XML and XML to SGML. Users receive maximum flexibility as they can access all legacy documents as well as create new ones.

XMetal is major bucks! We had a 50,000 user license for Panorama which worked just fine. The executives will just not approve a bunch more money for software to do the same thing. What a shame. Not much one can depend on in the software arena these days. We don't need authoring capability, just a viewer or converter.

Thanks MntSnow

Check the freeware sections on D/L sites for XML tools. They are able to read SGML and almost present them in tree structure with tables aside. At least good enough to make sense of the content.

I once wrote a script to import SGML into an Access Database, a hell of a job and never properly finished:(
