View Full Version : VisionTek Xtasy GF4 TI-4200
I bought a VisionTek Xtasy GF4 TI-4200 about 4 months ago and the fan blew out on the card already. I can't believe what a POS their fans are. What I can't believe even more is that they don't even have the replacement fans available! They expect me to wait 2-3 weeks for the replacement fans to arrive. That's some very poor customer support if you ask me!
Here is what they said:
Were sorry but were out of stock on replacement fans. Were to get them in about 2 to 3 weeks. You can forward us your info and we will send out a replacement as soon as we get them. Please let us know if this works.
What the heck is that suppose to mean "Please let us know if this works."
Would this work for you guys? I find this totally rediculous fir a major manufacturer not to have this in stock. They must have alot of these fans defective! :(

Heck no :( If they cant just replace the fan then they should send a whole new card!
Tell me about it! We'll see how they resolve this problem. Hopefull they will head in the right direction.
Well, I got a reply from VisionTek and they made a couple suggestions.
One:, I get to send the whole card back to them with the hassle of packing it up, taking it to Fedex or UPS, pay the shipping which I think is BS!
Two: I can go and waste my money on a Blue Orb and use only the fan off it because if I remove the original heatsink from the video card, my warranty gets voided. Oh, yeah! I really want to go out and buy a heatsink kit out of my own pocket and use just the fan off of it!
My only words are, I wouldn't ever want to deal with this company again. There are so many video card manufacturers using Nvidia chipsets, I don't see the reason I should have to go through with this.
here is what he said...
Unfortunately, we do not have any replacement fan for this card. Two options we can suggest. One we can do is process the RMA and have the card sent in for repair or replacement.
Or two, you can purchased the same fan that is on the card, which is called a BLUE ORB, which you can purchase locally at any CompUSA or Fry Electronics or online at this link

there are 3 screws that is holding the inner fan on the heatsink. Do not removed the heatsink off of the chip. It is glued and removing it will damage the chip and void the warranty. All you need to do is remove the fan and replaced it. Do keep the original fan.

Yep, I already have... And never again do I plan to endorse their products! What a lame answer... "go buy a Blue Orb" HAH!

well they stopped making nvidia...and actually almost folded. ATI helped them out and now they make the ATI knock offs. so thats one reason for the problems i suspect.
Still doesn't make it an excuse. They should have support for products they sold... This card isn't even a year old...

oh i agree...forgot to say that last night. its no excuse at all. they should have the same level of support for their discontinued products as they do for their current ones. I have the same card, and i would hope that the lifetime gurantee that was in place when i bought the card, would still be good.
:badass:
I'm here to add my two cents... my nVidia GeForce Ti 4200 fan crapped out too. Spread the word - they suck. I'm glad I was able to find this site before I wasted my time looking or dealing with the manufacturer.
Thanks,
- CJ :hammer:
