Please select the theme which you prefer to use when viewing this site.
It won't make us richer but it will make us wiser.
:bunny:
Told ya it was easy, PJ! :)

Truthfully I would like to take the site down to just two themes as it would make life so much easier in administration. Personally I would like to take the site to Default and Emerge and make Emerge the default for people who are visiting for the first time and have the current "default white" theme selectable for those that want or need a brighter theme

if you are going to support only one, i'd like to see emerge and original.
i find emerge a trifle dark and many of the buttons (edit, quote) are in the "non-standard" place which makes it a little harder to use whereas original offers enough light & dark for easy reading and locating everything...

I like the one I got, it's white and a light blue. I guess it's the default. Mike yiu had one theme that was dark, too dark for my eyes.
Two themes only sounds like a plan :D

Well here is the Official Stats of the sites theme usage straight out of the database:
1 Default style 1522 Users 67.37%
2 Emerge style 581 Users 25.72%
3 Original style 27 Users 1.20%
4 XP style 129 Users 5.71%
So going by those numbers would show me that the two to get rid of would be "Original and XP"
Just checked and the one Madfish uses is "Original" but I will go with whichever 2 themes the Active Users want. Actually the XP styles not to shabby either lol

I use Emerge.

I can't honestly vote on this, as the two themes I like don't have Quick Reply. :o
If I could be assured that XP would have Quick Reply, that'd be my choice. :D

Well I checked them out.
Decided on 'Emerge'
Apart from this site.
I've spent some time recently at sites with dark backgrounds/bright text.
Dont mind them.
All white backgrounds become eyeburners after a while.
I'll have to go back and vote now.

I have no idea which theme I am using, or where to find out! Whichever one it is though, I like it! Most of my computing is done at night, under artificial light, and the darkness is kinda more pleasant!

For my eyes - the dark theme strained my eyes - I use the one here that has black type and grey boxes -
I see a blue and grey header.

I'm pretty confident that I could code in the quick reply in any of themes that don't have it currently if they were to be choosen

as long as quick reply is available -
on dial up - I find that having makes things faster to reply to, rather than popping a reply box up.

I have been using Emerge for quite some time and find it to be a nice alternative to all that white stuff.

I use XP but wouldnt mind using the default if life would be simpler for you to administrate. Emerge is also a little too dark for me.

Basically it would come down to Emerge and one of the three lighter colored themes as I see it. That way there is a dark theme and a light theme for people to choose from.
It's just that when it comes time for patches, updates, changes there is 4 times the amount of coding that has to occur.

it's like fshanda said...if it'll make your life easier to support two, then i couldn't in good conscience, ask otherwise. [sob] so, i've found 'Original' only to lose her again as a casualty to the masses. :mecry:

The default and emerge are best imo.
Mntsnow
09-03-2003, 10:24 AM
Well Default is of course the Highest one used as that is what is "forced" on people when they come to XPC by default ;)
So really the voting comes down to what "light colored" theme people like best ;)
Personally I find Original to plain as it is just the box stock color scheme of a new Vbulletin board install :D
EndobioticChaos

I use default.
I'd love to use Emerge, except it's just too much dark. To have the buttons, background, borders, and everything except the font dark is too much. If you'd change some of it to other lighter shades to ballance it out, I think it'd be a vast improvement. There needs to be some contrast somewhere.
Original is too Purple, and XP just doesn't cut it. :)
Probably the one feature from Emerge that I'd really like to see in Default is where each post says whether the person is online or offline.

LMAO - seriously guys - let me fire the black background at nighttime so I see how it looks then too.
Sometimes I work late into the night - so black sites are great as I work away.
let's my sweetie sleep as I work.

ps - isn't that rotatary button in the middle for voting? :)

LOL Gohan,
And thanx for telling me which theme I use!
I only just found out ( reading DC Forum :D ) how to select theme, so I went thru them all!
Emerge still works for me, in artificial light is is so much nicer! It's dark here now, BTW!

OBTW: why does it bounce me to the home page when I vote in a poll?

I noticed that the older guys like the lighter ones and the younger guys like the darker one. Has to be the eyes. I know thats the reason I like the default theme, so much easier on the eyes. My vote is for default.
btw, for those of you who want to know how to find out what your using, go to your control panel, edit options, scroll down to secong block from bottom in "style set."

OK. :D
I like the darker themes because It's usually dark in the room when I'm on the PC at home. The themes like some sites use which are mainly white hurt my eyes they're so bright.

I like the idea of 'Emerge" being the default. I think it is striking and gives the place visual identity, right off the bat ( if made the default ).

Emerge takes alot of loading time though, alot of images, so 56k users might not be so happy with it when they enter the site.

hmmm...how 'frightening' is it, that nearly 16% of the visitors here doesn't know what i'm referring to!
maybe the themes setting might be worth a mention in the FAQ... :)
