i have an AIW 8500DV ATI... and i was looking on getting something comprable made by Nvidia. This is on my media center rig, so it needs to have VIVO, TV in (tuner card).

Im sick of messing with the drivers. If I can find a reasonable alternative you will see this for trade :)

tia!

Sorry Bud...I've been under the weather today and missed this thread until now. What problems are you having with your 8500DV AIW? I have that card and love it

well...there is no sound in the tv mode, and the player freezes up constantly. I could never get the tv guide thing to work. I havent updated the drivers, due to the fact that there is a ton of them to do.

hey want to buy another one mike? :D

Have you considered getting the nvidia card you want and then using a seperate tuner card? Whatever you get, I'd recommend you check and make sure the software that comes with it will support dual tuners like ATI's software.....and has component out (assuming you will be hooking this up to a tv and not just for editing video).

Sorry to hear you couldn't get it to work. I've had similar problems with my AIWs. One mobo I have didn't seem to want to work with my AIW7500. The only way to get it to work right was a fresh install of xp, then installed the latest software from their website without installing any software from the cd first. Then I installed guideplus by itself from the cd. I did my other system this way also and neither one has crashed or even hiccupped since.

ok well since i spent my upgrade money on a new motherboard i gave this ati thing a shot. everything seems to be cool...but i cant get sound on the tv tuner. there is video but no sound.

Im using the nforce crush chipset (onboard) thats on my asus a7n8x deluxe. I need to know what setting to put in the MMC so the TV has sound. I tried AUX/Video/Stereo Mix.

totally confused! ????

Usually it's microphone. You plug the cables into the out port on the back of the radeon and one of the cables is the sound. Plug that into your soundcard's mic. Then adjust the mics volume in windows, usually you have turn mic boost on in the advanced menu.

I set mine up using a cdrom audio cable internal. There's an output on the radeon and just plug it into an input on the SC. So mine is adjusted using CDplayer in the windows volume control.

I did the same thing, until I went back and read the manual. Noboby expects to have to do that. I was suprised the audio is sent to the OS in analog form.

I have the same setup you do. The 8500DV and the a7n8x deluxe. You are having lockup problems? Mine runs smoothely. I haven't tried teh video capture on it yet, but so far it runs really well for watching TV and playing games. I've had the card since December. It woudl not work in my Soyo Dragon motherboard, MAJOR lockup and stability issues.

That remote looks awful familiar :). Have you seen the TV software that comes with those? Similiar to AIW software?
