View Full Version : Star Craft - questions - Zerg2 and Editor
Bought a copy of Starcraft a few weeks ago and haven't been able to stop playing -
Two questions - in the second ZERG episode, I cannot find any way to get the greater spire option to appear - so I cannot win the game.... I've poured over the manuals and have followed the directions - even going so far as building three independant sets of the required buildings / forces for the queen to appear - but cannot get it to happen. Is this a game glitch, or is there some secret I'm missing...... I.E. - I cannot evolve a mutalisk so it can pick up the chrysalis to move it to the beacon.....
Next - Does anyone know of a better campaign editor manual - something that shows good trigger scripts to build in. I've had a great time building out terrain and the campaign is clear in my head, but am having trouble getting the ZERG colony to "develop" despite my best attempts to use the run ai scripts

to build a greater spire you have to build a spire and evolve a spire into a greater spire....also, a hive is nessarry to get a greater spire.
as far as the campaign editor, go to www.campaigncreations.com they have lots of cool campaign related stuff for SC...

hehe, since you're barely starting they dont let you get EVERYTHING. As you advance in the game more options will be avalible to you. hope this helps.
Well Falcom - yes - understood - that's what the manual says and I've read the manual and followed the directions - but after 6 hours of holding out until the resources ran out and nothing I've done allows me to "evolve" my spire - I figure there's either a game bug - or I've missed some critical step - I've evolved the lair into a hive - I've built the spire - the resources and critters are all there - and I've bought all the upgrades the evolution chamber and other buildings and critters allow me to build - and still I have nothing that allows me to evolve a spire into a greater spire to then, in turn, make my mutalisk fliers evolve into carriers needed to win the game - replayed it several times - exact same results...... - I'm down to the click on everything to see what happens approach - and still haven't gotten anywhere.

wow - didn't know there was such a large starcraft community out there - but given the quality of their editor - I understand it - surfed to amazon and bought the editor guide because I'm having some scripting trouble it might be able to help me with.

I cannot evolve a mutalisk so it can pick up the chrysalis to move it to the beacon.....
For starters, a mutalisk can't in any way shape or form pick-up a crystal, goto the hive, upgrade the overlords so they can carry troops and get a drone there[;)]

heh, missed that small fact...good eye Hellmund..
but I still need a greater spire to do that - right? Can't get the building to evolve - so not sure I can get the overlord to evolve either -
I just downloaded patch 1.09 and will install that. Perhaps that will fix it - we'll see

The overlords are upgraded from the hive/hatchery, though I believe it has to be a hive to upgrade the overlords....U want 'ventral sacs' if I remember right is what it's called.....
Pneumatised carapace was for speed....and there was another one for increased sight range.

I'll try again - possibly tonight - again - thanks for all the help and the links - one note though - couldn't get into campaigncreations yesterday afternoon - site appeared to be dead - or possibly they firewalled off the site at my location.....
okay - upgraded to the v 1.09 patch level -
re-ran the zerg scenerio 2 - moving the chrysalis to the beacon -
no dice - I never get the opportunity to upgrade from a hive and while I do get hives, I am never offered the evolution steps to upgrade the overlord to a carry-all -
so I used cheat codes to upgrade the overlord - and I still cannot pick up and move the chrysalis - so I think maybe I need to wipe out the protos - and do that - and I still cannot move the worm - so then I use the cheat code for victory - and finally got out of it..... the next few camcapgins appeared to work as expected.....
I also tried to use the cheat code to simply bypass the zerg2 episode - but it didn't work. Had to force the victory condition.

U didn't read what I wrote right, u don't USE the overlord to carry the chrysalis....u use hte drones. A drone can pick-up the chrysalis, just like the SCV picks up that zerg beacon thing in the terran campaign. Just pick-up the chrysalis by right-clicking the chrysalis with a drone selected, then escort that drone carrying the chrysalis to the beacon....and all will be well with the world:D
good grief - you'd have thought they mention that in a mission briefing - went over that a few times as well - thanks - I'll try that.

The man has skills -
it worked, although it definitely wasn't easy -
had to try several times to get a drone to pick up the chrysalis - if you don't hit it just right - you'd never get the drone to pick it up - but ot worked like a charm eventually......

still waiting on the campaign programming guide - amazon has it on back-order..... getting it for script building in the editor to make my own adventures..... love the map tool so far, although the ramp tool isn't too friendly to complex maps....

Ah well, good to hear it's sorted out:)
Yeah I used to make maps....there are a FEW fun tricks with the map builder.....warping unit's in was the most annoying...wait til someone overloads a map position with unit's....and the bright yellow text....accompanied by that annoying buzzer noise....
