New programs in XP

is there a way to make it stop highlight new programs in the start up menu?
like sometimes they highlight something that i installed 2 weeks ago, it's very random and annoying...

yup, simple, right click the taskbar -> properties
click start menu tab
click the customize button
click the advanced tab
second checkbox from the top!
loads of other cool options here too... :D
