Compaq 5204 / Partition 30gig HDD
Installed Maxtor 30gig ATA133 and Quick Restored with OEM CD.

23 gig's plus for C: drive and a Extended 5.71 gig's for System_save drive is what was created by Quick Restore function.

Using Partiton Magic, I wanted to resize the C: partition to 6 gig's, even though there was a message at the bottom of the resize panel that C: was outside the cylendar limit of 1024 before I started with the new parameters????

I set the new size to 6156Mb's and went for it anyway.

Unbootable.

So. My question is, How do I resize C: drive and resize the D: System_save drive (Which originally had 2466Mb's allocated on original HDD of 5 gig's) so that I can multiple partition this Compaq 5204 with misc. file drives of [E:] [F] & [G] ?

Cheers!

Did you do the partitioning before, or after, you did the restore. My thoughts would be that you have to use your partition magic, and/or the maxtor utility to partition before doing the restore.

I agree on setting sizes before the restore..also..no you have the softpaq installed?..or does the restore cd include that.

I seem to have it under control for the moment.

I did figure out that you have to create the drive partition and create the Extended partition first.

It didn't work at first but then I remembered the cardinal rule of KISS. (Keep It Simple Stupid) for those that aren't aquainted with the acronym.

I forgot to format the planned System_Save partition.

Got my prefered O/S size and System_Save drive size.

Anyway. Thanks for the attension all.

Cheers!
