anyone playing the desert combat mod? i have it here to install but wanted to ask a few Q's
a. do i need the road to rome expansion?
b. how stable is it? i saw it was "alpha" and not "beta" i dont want to hose windows or something
maybe we can all get together at some point and play against each other?

on a different note...how do i eject from the plane? im hitting the "9" key continually and it isnt working.
I know BBA likes to play this game. I'm sure he'll be able to answer some of your questions when he sees this thread...

i figured it out... you need to exit the plane and then hit parachute. i was trying to parachute in the plane :)

Definitely exit the plane first. :D
Whats cool is jumping out and free falling until the last second then hitting the chute...otherwise, your an easy target while floating down.
BTW: Desert Combat is THE SCHIZNIT!!! It's only in Alpha...but it's the best mod ever made, those guys really rock! They are due to release a new version sometime soon, so keep an eye on www.desertcombat.com and www.planetbattlefield.com

Allright...a little DC runby from tonights game:
I was in an AC-130 gunship (piloting it) and was shot down eventually. I crash landed it and ejected at the exact moment it exploded. Somehow I managed to land inside the dead planes carcass..which protected me from the shooting SU-25 jet and Hind that shot it down. I managed to run to the nearest flag and cap it.
Later, I was driving the M1A1 to a cappable base, and was getting shot by an SU-25. I stayed in it as long as I could...until the tank was almost dead, then I ejected from the tank with my Stinger ready...as the SU that killed my tank flew overhead. I sighted him, fired and destroyed him instantly...then I capped the next flag.
In short, out of about 24 people playing, I got the highest score, almost double the score of anyone else...the whole game went like that...BBA was UNSTOPABLE!!!

so what map is that? ive been playing coral sea and wake island...but im getting bored with those.

El-Alemein is one fo the favorite DC maps.
I am on GameSpy...I usually just play the servers returning a low ping from teh game browser. I like the "Spawns realm" and the "100MB No lag" servers, usually get between 40-60 pings.
I'm in the BF chat room right now on GSA (GameSpyArcade) and I use the handle "BBA" (surprise :D )

No whats really strange is I was born in Stockton and now live in Reno. (eerie music plays)
I lived in Tracy for a while 12 years ago and was reallly bored. Stockton is actually scary in places. Good riddance Cali. Don't really ever want to live there again.

what extra maps does everyone use? ie battle for brittain? im looking for some popular maps...that arent included with the game/patch

I love Reno. I moved here when 7 yr old so I grew up here basically.
I play the regular BF Maps, Road to Rome, Coral Sea, BofB, and now Secret Weapons Demo map.
Just regular ones. I try not to degrade the purity of my install less problems and glitches.

Yep I was Born in Modesto. But raised in Price Utah (I was adopted but met my natural mom when I was 21)
Still have family (from my natural mom) in the Manteca immediate area (My mom, a brother and 3 sisters) We try and get down once a year and they try and come up to Utah once a year (usually during the Ski and Snowmobiling season).
I can tell ya too...There is some really scary places in Stockton! lol
I like the Reno area too. I actually wouldnt mind living there. Btw did either of you two go to "Hot August Nights" ? Chel and I have been a couple of times was a couple we snowmobile with as Kent and I are into the cars and the girls are into the gambling :D.

I have lived in Tracy, Manteca, Ripon, Lathem, c rankville.
Hot August NIghts. Bahahahahaha. Go stand in the sun to see cars, fight traffic, pay outrageous prices for everything, wait an hour to eat, on & on & on.
This bring me back to BF1942, which I much rather prefer playing than doing any of that garbage.
The Balloon Races beginning of September is nice for the family.
Now Street Vibrations Mid September with 10,000 Harley's , nice t&a and the bud girls is more my style.
Gambling is not for me. Don't do it. Family first here. Too much risk involved for an addict.

oh yeah...ive been almost every year. its usually free for the show and shines at the casinos or at Rancho San Rafael. I used to live above the university so it wasnt far. It has definately degraded since the riots. its not near what it used to be.
the baloon races are something to do at least once...again living above the university i could see them from my backyard.
Yes stockton is a hole..but there isnt a pharmacy school in Reno...so you gotta go where you can ;)

We've had fun. We usually have taken a couple of cars down so we hang out with a few other people we know and just enjoy. last year we stayed at the Peppermill and really had a fun time.
I also enjoy the air races but it's been a couple of years since going to them

well guys back to BF i usually dont play it b/c my video card doesnt work to play on BF it is a GeForce 2 Family Edition 440MX 64 mb something like that and my FPS are always around 5 - 15 and it lags like HELL !!!!! i shouldnt have bought the game...... now i play MOHAA-medal of honor allied assault and the lag isnt so big please tell me how i can fix it =)

and i cant buy a new video card b/c i live in brazil (im swedish) and my video card is PCI and my motherboard isnt compatible with DDR so i cant buy =( even though i could buy a video card from the states and export it here but my wallet says POOR *removed* lol sry bout that

Edit your posts next time.
As for your computer, well you need a AGP slot (not DDR, DDR is for memory) to put the latest video cards in it, if you don't have that then you will need a new mainboard and probably also a new processor.

well i 4got to say that got confused with DDR cuz ddr is for memory and my motherboard isnt compatible with AGP sry bout that k ? so i bought this computer for just 3 months ago and i didnt know much bout computers so i wasnt aware bout it only when i started playing games

Well it sounds there isn't much you can do about it, except for upgrading ofcourse.
