View Full Version : Searcing a new 17", witch one
Hi there,
I'm searching a new 17"monitor CRT,
Now, i'm ussualy working on 1152x864 so witch one is good for that work?
if possible , flat tech,
I found myself this one:
Philips 107B40(real flat)
Only they say it's tear free on 1024x768
My question, is there a cheaper one?
With good/better quality?

Trust let me ask this....What is your budget as if we watch closely you might be able to get a good quality 19" for the same type of money... When it comes to monitors I go price then choose between size and quality of screen once I have a set point of what I'm willing to spend....
Ok, here's 1 thing, I'm from holland, so it's euro's, the last time I checked the valuta's was yesterday it was 1 euro = 1,14 dollar
I'm thinking of a max of 200 euro 200x1,14=228dollar
it must be 17"!!!(no more room, and i'm just sitting 30-75cm away from my monitor)
but watch my words, I sad
"My question, is there a cheaper one?

whoa.....You didnt say anything about it having to be a 17" only monitor in the first post....
And since your in holland (didnt know that as you didnt list it in your profile) I wont know where to begin looking for a monitor for you price wise as I dont know what your market is selling for.... but I will say I like and have personally used
Viewsonic
Mitsubishi
Sony
KDS
but the phillips you listed doesnt look to shabby but truthfully you will probably be hard pressed to find a 17" monitor that has impressive graphics at above 1024x768. and was the one of the reasons I mentioned 19" in the first place
Best of luck choosing one

Here is a site selling your phillips for 161.00 http://www.superwarehouse.com/Philips_107B40_17_CRT_Monitor/107B4074/p/120767
and here at the same site is a KDS monitor for 123.00 http://www.superwarehouse.com/p.cfm?KDS_Xtreme_Flat__XF-7T_Silver_17_CRT_Monitor&p=203874&CMP=IL18612 but you will see the screen resolution is not as good as the phillips
but here is a NEC montor that would be like quality to the phillips you mentioned http://www.superwarehouse.com/NEC_AccuSync_75F_17_CRT_Monitor/AS75F/p/50885 at 149.00
Mntsnow, lets say I can get any monitor I want trough my connections ;)

tnx
I'll fill some more information in my profile;)

I have a KDS Xtreme Flat XF-7B, very similar to the XF-7T shown in the above KDS link. Good monitor, but has one problem. The monitor is very front heavy, and if you bump it (even lightly with your hand), it will rotate down so the screen is pointing down toward the desk. Very irritating.

Maybe you could put something under the monitor to prevent it from going down?

i have a sylvania 19" and it works great. good resolution at 1024. small dot pitch. it was cheap to boot...only $100 at Costco...although you dont have those in the netherlands.
point is...i like my sylvania.

Your 25 and you got a 19 inch on 1024... that is pretty low, you could at least go to 1280.
I run 1024 on a 15 inch.
