Howdy all, I'm going to be doing some shopping for a low end grahics card and I'm not too familiar with where to get data on various cards. So much has changed with graphics cards, over the last year, it's hard to believe!

I have found Toms (http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030120/vgacharts-02.html) review of recent cards, but I don't see my current card listed - I have a GeForce2 MX200 32 meg PCI card. Shhh, I already know what you're thinking, but since I do not run games it is not a big deal. I do want my XMMS visualization plugns to scream, though! Oh yeah, I run Linux. I promise - no zealotry (but only if you don't raise the issue. ;) ). I think that means ATI and nVidia are about all there is, but that is not a bad situation, is it?

An issues I'd like to resolve, if you can help:
links to slightly older reviews that cover my older card. Yeah, I prefer Toms for sake of similar test methods and test suites, but anything that compares a GF2MX200 to more recent cards would be helpful, so I can see how far away from 'state of the art' I am presently running.

My hardware is not bleeding edge, just a DFI AK75EC, Athlon TBird 1GHz (mobo can take 4x AGP).

Welcome to XPC Dunbar!

I'm not that much of a gamer either so most of my cards are the older ones too!

Thanks!
This 9100 (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=585201&Sku=V261-3020%20W&CatId=318) looks decent... anyone care to comment on it, comparing to a GF2MX200 would be real sweet!

The 9100 is a newer card w/ DX9 capablilties. But, it is an entry level card so don't expect fps.

I have 9000 Pro that sucks in comparison to the TI4200 that I just picked up.

Good advice.

My present card was waaaay down on the speed list; I think that even the 9100 will be 2x-4x the speed of my current card! That is what I'm trying to determine - how todays cards (the 9100 for example) compare to my older card.

My GeForce2 is considred legacy product - it can only do DirectX 7 or lower, according to the last overview which nVidia published.... Sounds like I'm going to get a very decent jump in performance, even with todays entry level cards!
