Vpn

hi all,

I have been asked by a friend to help him set up a VPN from one of his offices to another, he wants it for Outlook 2000 for mail and to sync schedules.

Do you guys have any good guides for VPN's in Windows and Linux. I ask for both because untill i get there i don't know what his server has on it. He doesn't know what a computer is :D , so i have to help him.

Truthfully if this is just for "mail" and "calendaring" there is no reason to go to the length and headaches of setting up a VPN. Just enable the SSL encryption for his mail server. If he is wanting it for more than just that, I would want to know more of what type of servers, the amount of concurrent connections (Users supported) and what type of internet connections at both locations are going to be in use before I would be able to offer any definitive help or suggestions.

well as for as i have found out there gonna be using some special software that acesses a database on the other sites systems, so i guess this is why he wants the VPN. The other site has had all the modifications done by a company or somthing!!! He wants me to connect his office to the other one.

They have ADSL in the office which is through BT, not sure what con is in the other office, but i know it has the mail server and this system for the "special software"
