wondering how to hook up lap top to tv

I have a toshiba lap top and I would like to hook it up to my tv which has an s-video thing, but my lap top does not.. I was wondering how to go about connecting the two so that i could watch dvd's on my tv and what i need to buy.

I have an ati vid card that says you can hook it to the tv and do what you want....I spent over 100 on it and am very dissapointed on how it works. Id doesn't come in as clear an the monitor. I hope you have better results than me. :)

Which version of Toshiba laptop do you have so I can see what spec's your laptop has and what type of connections it has?

its a toshiba satellite 1130/1135 series... but without the s-video outlet in the back.. so i dont know what cables to connect it with or how to go about that
