System: win 2000 pro
this CDR-W WAS working till it just quit showing up on Nero burn program
I went to the Driver manager to check the Drive and it gave me a code 19, registry is possibly corrupted. I then uninstalled the drive and rebooted. Once rebooted, Win detected new hardware and I proceeded to install using the provided driver that WIN had already. I rebooted again and It's not working still.
IS it possibly something is wrong with the Win provided dirver?
What should I do?

Welcome to XPC!
Is the Drive working ok within Windows and just failing within your burning application? If only failing to work within your burning application I would then suggest uninstalling your burning software, Rebooting and then reinstalling the burning software with all of it's updates and then rebooting once more.
If the drive is failing all the time double check your cables and/or exchange the cables with known good ones and see if that helps if not then the drive might have truly failed at which time get an RMA if still under warranty.

The drive is not working under windows, not just the burning software.
I was under the impression that I could find a individual driver someplace but only to find software bundles that enhance the drive.
My dad has the same drive in his computer, I should see if he's still got the install software or something. At the same time I'll check the cables due to the fact that the case is off to add better cooling since i'm sorta running 500 on a 350 chip.

The only time a "standalone" driver is needed is to be able to access the drive in pure dos. Other than that the native windows driver for cdroms works without a hitch.

Okay, now that being the case, I'll have to try to Reinstall the CD bundle and see if it works. if not, I'll have to figure something out. Might have to get a new drive.
