But now i have a quandry. can i still network my computers together and have them all receive the internet? i have a speedstream dsl modem and a linksys befsr41 router. i tried surfing sbc's website but no real info on how to set this up. what settings in the router, do i have to install the dialer on all computers...etc all help is appreciated. tia :)

Nothing has changed but the router connection. Reconfigure the router for DSL and don't bother with the computers on your network.

ok...so just connect the modem to the router like usual...and then change the config to PPOE instead of cable?

yep...easy enough...thanks
Just for reference. There are some ISPs that take down your MAC address from your NIC and will not connect if you change the NIC card. Charter communincation is one of them. If you have this problem after switching NIC or PC and use a router, just go into the Router setup and type in the MAC address of the NIC card that worked and the router will clone the address...
