My TV at home had the tuner go out of it. The picture has become fuzzy and unviewable. If I jiggle the coax cable sometimes the picture comes back on but nothing like the clear picture I used to have.
The one good thing is the s-video input still works fine and my DVD player still plays on it and has an excelent picture.
So heres the question. Will an All-In-Wonder Pro card give me an acceptable TV picture when using the cards tuner? I want to run my cable connection into the card and then run S-Video to my television set.
Im looking at the All-In-Wonder 9000 Pro 64MB DDR
and at the All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500DV 64MB DDR.
I dont want to fork out for the 9700 PRO and I dont want to waste my money if im going to have a less than perfect picture.

I have the 8500DV model and the picture is very good on my Sony 53 inch big screen TV in the rec room but I wont go as far as saying that it is perfect. When playing DVDs or AVI's thru the S-vid it is as good as the DVD or AVI gets but the tuner is still not as good as a real tv's tuner in my personal opinion.
If you set the resolution on your compute rto a lower resolution like 600x800 it is better but it is still fuzzy But a DVD movie or a movie downloaded plays almost crystal clear

I can probably live without it being perfect. Right now I can hardly watch any cable channels so this sounds like it would be a big improvement.
How does the remote setup work? Im assuming that I could controll any of the functions of the All-In-Wonder with it and not have to mess with a keyboard and mouse for normal TV viewing.

Yes the remote works off of IR off the back of the computer along with the vid card breakout box (with all the inputs and outputs) will be the remote reciever. you can do just about everything (most likely everything you would want to do dealing with the tv/movie functions) from the ATi remote.
Do you have a VCR hooked to the TV? They have a tuner.

The VCR was destroyed a wile back by my youngest son. Hes a rough one. Maybe a new VCR................... naa that wouldnt be any fun.
Sorry, wasn't trying to take away your excuse to get a AIW :D. I use the tuner in mine as my TV in my office. Works great. I don't have sat or digital cable so I really like the online programming guide that comes with it (gemstar). There are some HDTV cards out there also if you plan on switching to HD anytime soon.
Also, If you get digital cable you won't need another tuner since it requires a set-top box :).
