I want to utilize the extended USB conn on my mobo and add 2 ports to the front of the case. I prefer a 3.5" multi-panel but can't find one:( , so a case mod is fine . The normal bracket type wiring is to short to reach the front of the case. And I've come up short searching for ways to make my own. Any thoughts or links would be great.

you could try this.

if you can get hold of the normal rear mounted cable that uses one of the normal bay slots, you can always goto Radio Shack and get some extra connectors and some cable and maake up an extension.

Cut the rear bay mount so it is oblong

drill two holes one at each end, and the get a 3.5 blanking plate and cut out squares for USB plugs and two holes to match the ones at each end of your USB plate so you can either screw it or pop rivet it to the 3.5 blanking plate.

if you don't wish to use a 3.5 bay up you can some time get away with a side mounting that is close to the front of the case, ( normally only use this method if case front is no of a flat type .)
