letting my new PC run

Hi guys - just in seeing how fast things load on my new PC - finally had the time to load the OS today - win2kpro runs quite well on a 1.6ghz w/ 512MB RDRAM - running on a 32mb Radeon video card because my Creative decoder appears to never have worked - mummy returns comes across just fine.....

I've just loaded the first SETI workunit on it and in 10 minutes - it has already finished over 3 percent - I know it runs a lot faster on an Alpha - but this is smokin' for me..... Maybe I'll even catch up to Otheos - he's only a few units ahead of me.....

And another thing - even though it has several fans - it doesn'
t sound like an aircraft carrier -

running on a giga-byte GA - 8itx3 with a P4 1.6ghz 423 processor - clear skys so far -

Mmmm indeed.. sounds like a nice rig! Are you going to put up some Sandra benches? :)

I don't typically do any Sandra benches -

Here's a bench some of you can relate to - it finished a 3.03 version seti unit in just over 6 hours -

to compare - a well loaded 550 mhz box takes about 48 hours to do the same thing - and a 266 box takes almost a week to do the same thing - so I'm happy -

Nice machine and setup! I'm looking forward on getting another HD, so I can load Win2k onto it.

BTW, I remember running a Pentium 200MMX based machine and SETI@Home about 2 years ago, and I finished a work unit in about 50-60 hours, while my OC'ed AMD K6-2 550MHz finished it in under 25 hours...then again, it could be the earlier versions that took less time...dont' know!
