View Full Version : Upgrade Info
I currently have a Shuttle AV11 ver3.0 mobo. The 800MHz celeron chip burned out and I replaced it with a 1.2 GHz FC-PGA2 chip with a 100mhz system bus. The RAM is pc133. On boot up I cannot get any video nor can I get to setup. The board is jumpered from new as auto detect and not recommended to change. Is this the correct settings or do I need to change some jumpers?

Welcome to XPC Ross!
I'm still trying to get into Spacewalkers website to look up your motherboard but I know that up to version 2x of the AV11 it doesnt support the CPU you are listing. I'm trying to confirm that version 3x does but so far spacewalkers website is not working
Welcome to XPC as well Ross
I was looking throught the shuttle webpage and found that the 100mhz FC-PGA chip does work with your motherboard (v2.4 and later) but I think you need to flash your bios to version AV11S021.
That may be what was causing your problem.
Found the info here: http://www.spacewalker.com/english/support/faq/SupportLst/cumine_frame.htm

Keith I saw that but I also noticed that Ross is using a FC-PGA2 chip which I havent been able to see if it's fully supported as the v3 pages I cant seem to get to open
Yeah I saw that as well but it was the only part of the website that I could get too and thought it might be useful as they are both 100mhz chips
but maybe its no good after all my bad :(
OK after my poor performance above :D
I have looked a little more and have found that only the english language part of the site is down and I have looked in the german section:
http://www.spacewalker.com/german/av11.htm#av11
now my german is limited but i think that the board does not support the chip you have.
The only 100mhz fsb chips it supports is the P3.
Hopefully this is a little more helpfully and if it isnt then go easy on me :)

I think your over Chipped bud :(
I had google translate the page and came up with
AV 11 version 2 and 3
PGA Celeron with 66MHz FSB to 533MHz
Fc-pga coppermine with 100/133MHz FSB to 933MHz
Fc-pga Celeron with 66 MHz FSB to 800MHz *)
PGA Celeron with 66 MHz FSB to 533MHz
and it doesnt say a thing about flip chip 2's :( so it would look like you need to either find another cpu which is of flip-chip 1 design or upgrade your motherboard.
(This would explain why your board isnt even posting as the motherboard needs to have a "workable" cpu in place to even be able to post.
Many thanks Mtnsnow and to you as well Kieth. I suspected this but like you I couldn't get to the Shuttle site either. Back to the store for another chip. Seems you gotta tell them what you want instead of asking.

Our pleasure to be of assistance (speaking for keith too ;) )
Good luck and here's hoping to see you around XPC in the future (even without problems in the lounge forum and such!)

If you want to keep the power of a faster chip, and your board can get a 133mhz bus, you can try this:
