View Full Version : MSI 865PE board in hand today.
A friend of mine bought an MSI 865PE from newegg.com, and recieved it today ($104 even).
I was totally amazed since Intel has not even officially released the chipset yet and since it's not even announced on the MSI website.
I am going to get him to make a nice review of the board once he gets it all up and running.

Cool BBA on the review. but yeah MSI needs to do a bit of web updating :)
The reason it is not on the MSI site is because Intel has not given the official launch of the chip yet. MSI jumped the gun and predelivered the board to a lot of stores, and newegg screwed up and marketed them already...but they pulled it off the site today.
Trust me, I held the MSI 865PE Neo2 in my hand this afternoon.
It uses the latest Intel 865P/ICH5 chipset. It is the same chip as the 875P, but did not meet the performance standards of the 875P. This is the reason the boards are marketed at almost 1/2 the 875P pricing.
The problem with Intel not wanting to sell it yet is people will undoubtedly know it is the same as the 875, so the 875 sales will not be as strong as it could be with no low price competitors (albeit themselves)

LOL typical Intel BS.
When I did a search I found them at a few places for sale.
Directron has them :) http://store.yahoo.com/directron/865peneo2ls.html
That directron site was pretty much misleading BS. In the description it described all the capabilities of the 865/875 while inferring you would get all those features in the neo2...where you get very few in reality. In specific, the board only has the 865/ICH5 chipset, not the ICH5R; It does not have the CSA NIC interface; The only thing is really has is the core chipset...which supports 800 MHz cpu's and dual channel DDR ram, and of which in in contrast to the description, it DOES support ECC DDR memory.
