View Full Version : XP Incompatible Mustek Scanners Tip!

1. Start menu run program Regedit.exe.

2. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
rename the key ProductName from Microsoft Windows XP to Microsoft Windows 2000.

3. Install the Mustek driver for Windows 2000.

4. When it asks you to reboot, press Cancel

5. Go back to the registry and rename the ProductName back to Microsoft Windows XP

6. Reboot the system and enjoy your scanner under Windows XP!



Note: The method above only applies to the following Mustek scanner models

*1200 CU *600 III EP Plus *1200 III EP *1200 III SP
*1200 FS *1200 UB *1200 CUB *1200 USB
*1200 ED *1200 LP

Cheers NDC as I still have stock of thhe 600 III ep which I sell or give away with a new system this will be very usefull. :D

Glad this thread was able to help you! :) Yeah, I have two Mustek scanners which are, Mustek 1200ED and Mustek 600 III EP Plus... Have you noticed that Mustek scanners have very low CPU utilization? Very important feature to look for when buying a scanner. That is unless, you don't mind sitting around for the scanner to finish the task! ;)

Hi NDC, in an earlier mail you said, "If you'd like, I can e-mail you the driver I've been using without any problems. just let me know if you want it..". I have the same problem, have tried using the fixwinxp.exe tool, with zilch success, and I'm very confused and frustrated If you could email me that driver, I'd be very grateful.
