Hello,
AMD 1.33gig
ASUS A7M266
512mb Micron PC2100
Sound Blaster LIve Value
ATI 64mb ddr vivo
IBM 40gig IBM 60gig
Realteck netcard
Fongkai Case
AMD 760 chip set/
Win XP

Just formatted and installed a Full Version of Win XP on the 40gig.
I noticed on reboot that the processor was only runing at 1gig
instead of 1.3gig. The multiplier was set at 10x100 for 1gig and the front side bus was 200 mhz.
I changed it to 10x133 for 1.3 gig and 266mhz front side bus.
But now the machine will not boot. It boots to the safe mode screen but when i hit safe mode or any other option like run win normally it hangs. The machine was runing win 98se before with out any problems and the multiplier set at 10x133.
Could it be bad memory? I have flashed the bios since with no luck.
Thanks

Memory could do it. Try underclocking the Memory to the FSB -pci which would put the memory at 100mhz and see if your able to fully boot.

Upon looking up your motherboard manual at ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/amd760/a7m266/a7m266-104.pdf On Page 25 of the PDF I see it has a note saying : the memory runs at the CPU buss speed. Thus if you memory isnt up to snuff it might not run at the 133. (although I would think your Micron stuff would). Double check your settings i the memory section of the bios for the cas and stepping settings
