i have the linksys befsr41 router with the latest firmware upgrade.

the port that has the number 1 i am not able to use.

i have a system plugged into port 2,3, and 4.

nothing plugged into the upload.

it's not the cat5 cable because it is working in the second port.

i did change to another cable just to make sure and still nothing from the first port.

i did have a ftp server up and running but i don't have that system anymore.

i went and changed everything back to the way it was before i set up the server.

any ideas to what the problem could be?

Have you already tried resetting the defaults? It's possible something didn't do what you told it to but shows up saying it did it (if that makes any sense :))

If the port still refuses to respond it's possible that the port has failed. Dead ports are a reality :( Did you try putting the cable from port 2 into port 1 and see if the computer from port 2 can still see the world?

i tried resetting the defaults and switching the cables.

i have had it for about 2 years.

i wonder if the warranty is still good?

i'll check the website and see.

thanks for the help.

Hi Robin... I know you said that you are not using the up-link but every thing that I have seen regarding this issue is that the uplink and port 1 are shared. So... If you use the uplink port 1 becomes disabled.

Here's my google search.

Hope it helps.
