I'm looking to buy one. I like it to be able handle a couple 1 Ghz, chips minium. onboard sound is fine, though I willn't enable it as it will be running server 2000. no built in nics or video. any sugestions? and what amd chips run 1 Ghz? their new chip rating system confuses the heck out of me.
Thanks

All of the "MP" processors are over the 1gig mark. I personally can suggest the Gigabyte or Tyan AMD dual cpu boards as I personally have used both.

Here is a link to Monarch Computer (where I have bought a bunch of stuff and like their service...Not always the cheapest but I like them...They have good tech support and are willing to answer questions before and after a sale!)
http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=M&Category_Code=ADMB
And then the Gigabyte board (ON BOARD RAID!!!!! and supports the newest MP procs)

the two tyan systems the first is the older version (supports upto MP1900's (I have this one) the second is the version that NDC has and will support higher speeds MP2600+)

Monarch is decent to deal with. I have been to their store several times. Buddy of mine has been running a refurb 2460 and 2, 1 gig Durons for about a year now, 24/7. Board and chips were a $200.00 investment...;)

As with all XPs it dosent matter what mHz they run at. An XP 2200 will run about the same as a 2.2 gHz P4. Slower in some benches and faster in others. If you check the AMD processor listings at NewEgg you can get all of the XP processor details. Im still running MP 2000s and dont think i'll be upgrading for a while. Well maybe when the prices for the newer processors start hitting the sub $100 price range.
