NDC and I are getting in to Video conferencing and it's pretty cool when we can get it working correctly but thats for a different thead :)
back to the question at hand...Who has PC camera's so they can do Video conferencing?
Both NDC and I have USB Intel Pro's (about 90 bucks without rebates). So far the camera's work with Intel's software, MS Netmeeting, MSN's Messanger and yahoo's chat. I have yet to try it in AOL's chat client.. For those that have a vid camera what soft do you mainly use?. How often do you use it?

Well, I have one: it was supplied by Earthlink for free: Alaris Quick Video Wee Cam
I'm pretty sure I can get some decent video conferencing with it.
Don't use Video Conferencing presently...haven't found a use for it.

hrmm well since you guys were talking about maybe you guys can help.
i was trying to do a video conferncing with phenious, using netmeeting, but it kept freezing after the splash screen popped up, i'm running windows 2000, i tried to download and install it somewhere else, but it didnt like that, cuz windows2000 is built with netmeeting installed, and i cant find a place to uninstall,is there anyway to fix it?
Rey loading a different version driver for your video card and tell me how it goes, Pshawn5. An yes, there is a way of uninstalling Win2k's default install of Netmeeting. It's a command line you must execute from RUN. I just can't remember how I did it before... I will post back as soon as I find it...
Ok... Here you go...
How to Remove and then Reinstall NetMeeting (http://www.xtremepccentral.com/vbforums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=384)
I also have an Intel USB pro cam and I don't use it at all but my 5 yr old does use it to talk to her grandma in AZ (my x-wife's mom)
and they use net meeting also and if works fine.

I'd like to upgrade mine, to maybe an intel or maybe another one, whichever provides quality and affordability, (and can be bought @ Best Buy :) )
Video conferencing would be a great way for us Xtreme'ers to communicate about the site, and working on it, eh NDC/Mntsnow?

Well it looks like USB Intel Pro's are the most compatible w/the software we'll be using: Netmeeting. When Mntsnow/NDC put up the video chat room, I'm sure it'll accomodate other brands as well. But for the price and compatibility I'd go w/Intel.

Yes I love my Intel Pro. While not the cheapest cost wise it has proven to be a solid camera.....
Still looking into how to best accomplish a video forum format.

Well, here's a couple programs that might help:
CamNet Video Chat Software (http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-3364651-100-7214363.html)
iVisit (http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10204-100-1692624.html)
ThruCam 3.30 (http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-3364651-100-7482724.html)
I'm checking on how to implement a video chat into the website, checking PHP, SQL, etc. resources. If you have any concepts or ideas as to how ur going to do this...let me know.

The makers of the last one make a version that supports up to 10 connected users... Most only allow 2 or 3 users at the same time..I want to have it so we dont have a limit..so I'm still researching the avaliable Software and the requirements of them and then will have to go thru a testing period of the ones that I can afford to see which one if any end up being used.
