Hi
I just got a game I wanted to play (return to castle wolfenstein) & I was getting an error on starting the game. It said unable to locate open gl directories, seemed to me it was probably my video card drivers.

After installing Nvidia drivers Win_XP 21.83 there were problems. I could get into windows, but as soon as I wanted to open any app it would think about it for a while and then shut itself off and display a message. kinda went like this "your system has been shut off to prevent any damage occuring: error reading nvb_4 driver keeps looping infanetly, check your hardware. error occured at 00X000 blah, blah, blah"

I had to boot using latest known good settings. I tried an earlier Nvidia driver set Win_XP 21.81 with the same effect. Diamond does not have any XP drivers, tried the NT drivers, but would not boot into windows with this configuration. The only thing I havn't tried is removing the Win XP hot fix patch from MS, I'm also using a beta flash for my bios which supports the speed of my CPU.

I'm running Win XP on
P3 933
Asus P3V4X
512MB Pc 133 SDRAM
Diamond Vipper 770 Ultra
Quantum 20GB hdd

Any help getting me on the road to extreme carnage would be greatly appreciated :)

Well, I've been sifting thro the newsgroups and seen posts with the same problem. All kinds of ideas about bios settings and such, but none fixed mine. What did fix mine was installing 12.41 drivers.
Thanks for all your help guys Biff

Might wanna check viaarena and read on the via nvidia issue

New 4in1 drivers, version 4.36 have just been released on the Drivers Page. This includes the new and improved IDE driver version 1.20 but what will be of more interest to most of you in this category is that it also includes a silent installation of a patch which adjusts a memory setting in BIOS on KT266A, P4M266, P4X266, P4X266A, KT133, KT133A and KT266 chipset based motherboards. The patch will detect the chipset on your motherboard and install where appropriate. I know that there are some people in this thread with a chipset not on the list I just gave, with symptoms of the loop/BSOD error. Be assured that the engineers in Taiwan are still working on this issue. Please let me know how the 4.36 drivers go for you.
