View Full Version : What Version for TI-4200?
What version have you guys found to be most stable and have performance gains? I'm currently running a TI-4200 with Det. 41.09 under Windows XP... Thanks! :)

Are you having any problems with the 41.xx drivers? The first time I tried to install them, they kept locking up when loading windows (finally fixed that problem with the newest VIA 4-in-1 drivers). However, once I finally got them to run correctly, I noticed a big performance hit on my GeForce 3 Ti-500. I had to go all the way back to the 30.82 drivers the get stability and speed.
Wierd things that I noticed with the 41.xx's:
1. Seems like it took for ever to change adapter refresh rate and resolution settings...usually takes just a second, but with the 41.xx's, it took about 30 seconds...
2. Several problems matching refresh rates in games (i.e. countersrike and wolfenstein). Counter Strike seemed to almost be running letterboxed (like a widescreen DVD) and wolfenstein was warped at the top, bottom, and on the sides. Nothing that I could change in game fixed the problems. However, going back to 30.82 corrected both problems.
3. The boot process was longer (I run winME). Booting with the 41.xx drivers was on average 20 seconds longer than booting with the 30.82 drivers installed.
These problems may be specific "features" of the Ti-500 with these drivers, but I did some research on various forums and found that a lot of people are having general performance issues (lower framerates and lower 3dMark scores were the most common complaints) with the 41.xx drivers.
If everything seems stable with the 41.09 drivers intalled, then I would just benchmark several different versions and keep the one that makes you the happiest! :)

I am running 27.42 drivers and they run rock stable.
If I upgrade any it makes my TV Tuner lag in full screeen.
Switched from 41.09 to 43.45 about 4 weeks ago and no problems at all so far, thats in a duel boot 98se and win2k.
Are you guys seeing any performance gain with drivers above 41.09 on a TI-4200?
