Yer such a tease! http://socalgal.digitalmntsnow.com/smileys/eviltong.gif
Not sure if I should even bother with a BIOS up on my board...
I've not noticed any probs with these:
Fix KB ignore error option
Add Legacy support to front USB headers
Fix IDE compact flash detection
Fix amidiag memory test failure
Fix AGP/PCI video option not working on PCI BUS2
Don't matter to me. I didn't have those problems either. But hey, the fixes are free and why not take care of the hassle just incase your system starts buggin' out some day.... hehe :)
There ya go, lookin' like a fish outta water again http://socalgal.digitalmntsnow.com/smileys/nana.gif lol

Well, thanks for the heads up.. I reckon I'll flash it when I get around to it ;)
:) Just don't mess up and... :bunny:
Update:
I just built a Tyan S2466N-4M dualie for my graphic workstation and also serve as a system to run the hardware at the PMA 2003 show in Vegas. I conected the bridges and bam, the system boot screen showed 2 x MP2000. This mainboard had an older version BIOS V4.03. I tried the same processors on my system with the newest BIOS which is V4.04 and displayed 2 x MP2000 as usual and then.... As soon as it detected the IDE's, the gave me a message that these weren't MP processros so it will continue to boot with a single processor! It's like they're trying to find ways tp stop users from doing the mod! :(
Thats not surprising.
Just like Intel making the P3 'Not SMP capable' until it was discovered they lied about the br0 pin location in technical documents, just to thwart anyone trying to use them in SMP, in favor of selling the identical but much more expensive P3 XEON processor.
Also, Nvidia, using the same video chipset on the GF1 to GF3 as in the much more expensive Quadro series pro card. Once people got used to modifying them in hardware ( and even software ), nvidia decided to design two different chips for the GF4 just to prevent this...one being quadro specific due to actual removing quadro parts from the die of the GF4 series in GPU production itself.
Check this out though... ATI has made the 9500 oem vid card, with the same PCB and GPU as the 9700, except originally they were only equiped with 64MB memory, and 4 GPU pipelines were disabled ( via software drivers ). Once they started seeling resallers selling them with 128 MB memory, end users started putting two and two together and realized that simply changing the ID string of the card ( either in software or by moving a resistor ) you can turn a 9500 128 bit mem card into a full fledged 9700 w/ 256 bit mem card...for half the price of the 9700.
- Once ATI discovered people were actually doing this, ATI had all those 9500 based on the 9700 PCB pulled from suppliers shelves!!! I wonder when ATI will figure out we are doing the same thing to turn a 9500/9700 into a Fire GL?
Basically, a lot of hardware pricing is not based on cost vs profit of production, but rather on profit margin vs what someone will pay

Yep I agree with your statement there BBA.
Well, I wonder why my XP1800+'s aren't getting detected as a mod chip?

I have a 2466-4m in my collection. I will check this out when I get a chance.
The bios in my MSI board gives that message on my low power athlons but they work normal in all my other boards. My 1700 palaminos work fine on on the MSI board. I figure its just how the bios recognizes a particular proc.
The bios is suppose to write the ID string to the proc depending on how the bios reads the other info. I know the 2460 bios on some boards would read athlon instead of athlon mp on the second proc even with real MPs.
My 4M runs great with the OE bios so if it has problems I'll just go back.
Yeah, let me know how it works for you. I mean this new BIOS seems to be stable for the 1800+ duallie, but fir the 2000+, I will just have to stick with the 4.03....
UPDATE
Another new version. Been running this BIOS version since its first release and all seems good...
