Bad caps are not limited to newer boards though. I wonder if this is the reason this is happing on older boards too.

so much for loving asus and gigabyte - my two favorites..... - man, the bean counters get you every time - a lil capacitor, of all things....
but there'll never be a recall...... too expensive, and the PC market is down to a very low profit margin as it is.....

Was looking at an ASUS as my next board too.....might have to re-think that.

Oh man! I just put together 8 machines all with Gigabyte boards! No problems other than one board being bad due to a bad Power Supply that was shipped with it. Power on... click click.. click click... Doh!
Hopefully none of those machines run into problems in the future as they are all at one facility. All but the bad one... it's my house :(
