The test mholtum used is here http://www.dslreports.com/stest . Nice Speeds!
Also, just FYI as I only noticed it the other day, on the XtremePCCentral Homepage on the right side 'bout middle down is a SpeedTest direct link to www.bandwidthplace.com .

But bandwidthplace.com only measures download speed, doesn"t let you know what your upload speed is. I had no idea what my upload was till I followed your dslreports.com link, so thanks for putting that up. BTW, it did a great job of measuring my cable connection.

Yeah I would put a DSL reports test on the homepage but they dont have an option to do as I do with the bandwidth place and most people are only interested in their download speed anyways

True about the intrest in download speed only, I use XPC's link to bandwidthplace on a regular basis to see how my cable connection is doing. Never needed to know upload speed, but it was nice to finally know what it was.
I finally had a moment when I wasn't downloading something. Only one small upload at the time.
bhess...thats how cable is here at about 3:00 PM on a mid week day. Any other time and it's about 2/3 to 1/2 that, both up and down.
In prime time here, a cable modem won't do anything but piss you off, or make you realize you need DSL ( which I ended up with ) that does a steady 1.25/256 day and night weekday and nd.
I must be lucky. For now atleast. At 8:00 PM I just tested it a few times and got 1967/368, 1941/368 so I must now have many users hogging my bandwidth yet.

None of those tests ever give me an accurate download result. DSL reports gives me a 151.5KB down and 645kbps up. I know for a fact I get 220KB/60KB (+-10KB) all the time. I can test them all day long and get below the results I see when I download.
LOL just downloaded a 50MB file at 221KB. Go figure. I think it's an conspiracy!:p

I had 1062 download and 118 upload, but remember i live in the netherlands and i used los angeles, CA.
If i would do this connecting on a german site (there they use most of the time T1) i would get higher.
Here is mine for comparison :D
**Okay, okay, its actually the T3 here at work, but nice upload too eh? :D

I guess it helps to work at a datacenter :D If I was connected to the pipes that are avaliable out of the datacenter instead of what I get in my cubicle... I can only image what the readings would be :eek:

I don't have an XPC to deal with so I'm happy with this connection.
When I first got it about a month ago it was 768 down and I read on the net that if you qualfied by being a certain distance from the phone company that you could get 1.5 down. So I called and I got lucky and it's only $29.95 a month.............:D

what would cause your upload speed to be so much slower than the download one?
edited to ask another question?
dose it matter how secure or how heavy you have your system LOCKED down like software or hardware security.

Here's my pathetic results, Ive supposedly got a 2megabit connection, it doesn't matter what time of day, the day of the week, or server I'm downloading off of, its about the same no matter what, I'm calling charter tommorrow & finding out what the hell is going on, why we keep paying for 2Mb service & aren't even getting full 384Kb service (their minimum package), at least on the bright side I got 20Kb more than the last time I tested it.

Lets see if this works, this should be my pic of my test results, it might be a little small, but...
edit: YESSS, it worked, had to go into photoshop to resize it & change to .gif format, thanks for the advice mholtum!!!!

No problem, seems that if you try to upload an image that is just over the limits you dont get an error.. Hmmm, Snowman?

Guess what? I just called Charter to ask them about my connection, well after doing some speed tests & sending an update to our modem, I finally got a more respectable speed, went from an average of 360-380kbps to about 1800-1900kbps, a big jump in speed, my upload went from around 120-128k to 240-256k also.
Now all I can say is, LET THE DOWNLOADING BEGIN!!!! After I buy a new HD & activate my 90 Fileplanet subscription card, that is!!!

attachments must be smaller than a certain size both dimensions as well as files size and then need to be of an approved type such as gif, jpg etc

That's better, got that one from the MegaPath server. Looks more normaler.

Yeah it looked like your upload was about to break the 1Mb barrier, that would have been insane if you only had 1500k for your download speed, most peoples are only a fraction of the DL speed, like mine is supposed to be 2Mb DL & 256Kb UL.
Shyguy
02-11-2004, 6:04 PM
Here's what my rated speed is according to Charter's speed test site:
Download = 1976 kbits/sec or 247 KBytes/sec
Upload = 237 kbits/sec or 30 KBytes/sec
Shyguy

I'm glad I got the DL speed straightened out with charter, I was finally able to download the latest patch for ravenshield last night, & was able to download about 30 or so map packs this morning in about an hour & half. Looks like I'l be playing R63 for awhile!!!
