I recently got a computer with windows xp home installed. I decided to do a reinstall of xp pro to get rid of the crap that was included on the home. Before i did this I was getting 8000 3dmarks and now i am just over 7000. I have installed the latest drivers for the card the mobo an one for the agp slot from the mobo manufacturers website. I cant think of anything else that could result in such a drop. What did packardbell do that i havent?

my system

P4 2.53GHz
Geforce3 ti200
NEC mobo (based on gigabyte ga-8siml with sis651)
512 pc2700 ram

any thoughts?

you might try the "generic" Nvidia drivers from Nvidia's website instead of the card manufacturers

Update

I had tried generic nvidia drivers but being on a dialup I had previously used ones from magazines I buy. But after installing them I would get errors when i would go to the geforce details in the display properties. But taking your advice I downloaded the latest drivers from the web and it worked. I am now getting 8300 3dmarks.

but i dont understand why the manufacturers drivers were bad or the latest drivers in the magazines didnt work. But it doesnt matter know.

Thanks mntsnow again :)
